When Princess Miavel is offered up to be the bride of the neighboring Kingdom of Thera's King Talyn as a way to stop war from breaking out, she assumes what little of her life she had was now over. But she can't help wondering if all of the things she heard were wrong. Especially when he gives Mia his precious room full of flowers and plants. Or when he treats her as his equal, and tells her it's practical for her to spend money. Maybe most of all, the way his eyes seem to soften when he speaks to her.

But as love begins to blossom between them, she realizes that even Talyn can't keep her safe anymore, not when their enemies discover he's already won her over. And, one of those foes will do anything to destroy Talyn.
