I wanted to let you know that I will be hosting a 2 week-long pun contest, and wondered if you were interested in participating. It starts on the 24th of January, with episode #52. Episodes will be uploaded everyday at the same time.
I only have two rules: 1. be subscribed to my series, and 2. send me all your guesses by episode #66, as that is the last episode of the contest. I have more information about the contest on my wall, which can be reached here: https://tapas.io/woolongramen
Looking forward to seeing you! I hope you will join in the fun!
DONE. WE DID IT. IT'S TIME.
wOW, OK! it's finally here- the extra series for OH, SAILOR! is up! you can go bookmark it to keep updated on some really cool stuff that happens as i work on the script, try making consistent art choices and most importantly, have lots of fun with everyone. i hope to see you there!!!!
BRUH. oh bruh.
it's been months since when i posted on here last, and trust me, they've been wild. wild wild months. i tried avoiding coming on here at all, focused on work, commissions, trying to sort everything out- and as of today, i feel much, MUCH better.
and ready to come back! with more stories, new ones- and even more awesome people than i remembered to share them with!
there's still a lot happening around me, but it won't be long until i wipe the dust off my dashboard and start posting again.
many of you are probably wondering what will happen to the series i've had on here that are unfinished, and for as much as i'd love to be positive and say i'll get back to them, i'm not going to be able to do that anytime soon. however!
i'm currently working on a personal comic project that i plan on making my first physical printed story! to avoid getting stressed over deadlines and rushing myself into works i won't be able to finish in time, i'll share with you my works in progress and sneak peeks at the pages and scripts i'm writing. it'll be fun! the name is still pending, but we'll call it SETTE! for now! i'm halfway through writing the first chapter, and trust me when i say, we're in for an adventure.
my style of both drawing and writing have changed quite a lot since we left off- those of you who follow me @lehvu on tumblr already know. but if you're up for something new, ridiculous and also sort of fun- you're still in the right place.
i missed you all, and i hope you'll join me in my future adventures!
( 1/2 ) part two is below
so, it's been a while.
a long, long while.
and for this, i really can't apologize enough, because if i tried, i'd feel as if i were trying to justify my absence on here, and i know i can't.
this is going to be a long message, just a heads up, because quite a lot has happened in a few months and it'd be unfair to don't let any of you on it.
let's start from the best!! i was hired to work on a children's book for illustrations, i'm the writer's direct left arm and she agreed with me to create a main cast that looked diverse and united- there will be black, asian, hispanic... children from all minorities that we'll fit in our projects, and for this i can't thank her enough for her open-minded approach on our work together. however, this also means i'll be awfully busy- preparing a whole book in less than a month is hard, takes time, and motivation.
but to be really honest with you, what got me stuck on everything that i've been working on right now is her- motivation.
those of you who have followed me for a long while know, i took breaks from projects before, hiatus that turned into interruptions, stories that are not even longer on here. i love IN HER VEINS with all my heart, i really do- and i would've never expected so much people to take interest in it, and love the story and characters so much.
but i wasn't a good creator to this story.
i keep on repeating the same mistakes in storytelling and writing in general, and always end unsatisfied with what i do. this, i'm afraid, is time to put a rock on it, and move on. or is it?
If you want to stop or take in her her veins down that is entirely your choice and we will respect that. Also, congrats on being hired as an illustrator!
I believe that in order to have happiness you must do somemthing you enjoy and love. Something that makes you smile whenever you finish your job. I believe in you. You know that I followed you from the start and I'll continue to do so because you have the talent and the wit to be amazing. Congratulations to your job too! I know it'll be amazing and if you lack motivation, try and do things that bring you joy. Find your pace by looking at your work from a different angle. NEVER HESITATE TO ASK FOR HELP! :) <3
1.) congratulations on the job :) and 2.) I respect you as an artist and whatever your decisions are for in her veins, I love the story and I think you're an amazing writer/artist, and your character design is amazing, and I would love to see the series continue, but only if that's what you want. I would hate for you to feel trapped, and feel obligated to finish something you're not proud of. I support your decisions, and will look forward to other things that you're apart of, wether your own story or illustrating for someone else. After all, a good artist makes good art, not the other way around. but the most important part is that you're happy with what you're doing :)
(2/2) it isn't, and will never be. because yes, i do think of thousands of stories all together, i work on projects, do stuff- but i don't, don't, don't give up on things. not anymore. this is not goodbye, to any of you and any of my projects. this is what will happen, what i will do: i'll put IN HER VEINS on hiatus. actually, not just IHV- all of my projects. HUMANS AMONG HUMANS, my side comics, everything.
why, you might wonder? i can't stay without drawing, so i won't stop, ever. those of you who follow me on tumblr know i've been having fun drawing fanart for a while, but that's not what i'll do- or not just that.
i'm working on a new project, but it's more than a comic to me. it's something much, much more important. because i'm studying every detail, i have writing archives, drawing archives, moodboards, everything i can for this story. this is what will happen: i will start a project that's everything about me, how i write, how i draw, and how slowly i'm growing as an artist. i won't publish it on here until it's finished, i'd hate to start another project and not being able to finish it again, so if you'll see it popping in your library, be sure it has an ending and possibly physical copies as well.
i know it's hard trusting my word this time, because this has happened before, and i won't ask you to stick with me or give me another chance- but i will be so, so happy if i'll make it to the end of this project, and it'd mean the world to see you all at the finish line.
Personally, I think you are doing great at story telling and writing, TOKYO GIRL seems like a good proof cause to me, it is quite a masterpiece. But if you are not comfortable with your work, it's totally okay to not post it! It's YOUR work, after all, and who are we to tell you to post something you don't like, just for our own little pleasure? I am your fan and I support you with all my heart but I certainly won't force you to do anything you don't want. Also, congratulations for your job! I'm so happy for you, it must be great :D
And we'll wait as long as it takes, don't push yourself too much! It's normal to take a break once in a while :>
GOOD ON YOU FOR KNOWING HOW TO DEAL! I really really love everything you do, so you know I'll be here when you have a full story to tell. Good luck, and let us know when the children's book comes out!
Your storytelling, your drawings, basically everything you do is golden UuU.
It's great that you're now working in something you like, I know you'll keep on creating wonderful things. Congratulations and I hope to keep on reading you when you're back. <3
For some peoople there is no greater and strict critic that oneself so I understand your point and I respect it; I wish you all the luck, take care and be sure I will be here welcoming you back; it is not necessary but I will tell you again how I love your beautiful, detailed and high level art and I find your stories charming and interesting.... Good luck in your proyects. Congrats in your job and take it at your own peace, you have all your live in front young talented artist <3
