Aicusa sat in front of her computer screen, typing away. Going through the everyday applications; Google, Safari (when Google would quit working), Microsoft...games and all. Her eyes never left the screen. She was fascinated with these things. They were the only things she had ever really known. She was a recluse. She was known for making up these silly stories and never finishing them. Especially known for how keen she was when in trouble.
She tried hard to stay out of the way of these things, but it never really worked out for her. She'd always get drawn back to these things.
"Aicusa! Aicusa!"
She jumped out of her skin, looking lazily at who delivered the voice. "H-huh...! What? No, I didn't eat the pizza in the fridg- Oh it's just you..." My imagination. Again.
"You okay? You've been staring at that computer for over 5 hours now..." It was her friend, Cole. "It's not healthy for you."
"Pah, whatever." She just rolled her eyes, fixing her glasses and getting back to the sappy love story she was working on. "You telling me something isn't healthy for me is just gonna make me want to do it more."
"You have weird logic... But I can't argue with the one who pays the rent. Which is over-due. By a few hours." He stretched his arms and his voice strained as he did so.
"Yeah, yeah... I'll mail it in tomorrow. They'll get it soon enough." She pushed on the desk and propelled herself back across the room, the old swivel chair squeaking and groaning in an effort not to collapse under her. The chair stopped abruptly in place before she even made it half-way across the room. "C'mon!" Cole leaned over her, leaning so he could look her in the eyes, even though he was behind her. "You bastard, nobody stops my chair."
"I'm worried about you." Everyone is, but you know what I say?
"Sorry 'bout your luck, but ye wanted to be here and now you're stuck here, now I'm gonna go get some food... maybe binge watch some T.V., do the usual. And you're not gonna worry about me or the rent. 'Kay?" She gave him a cheeky smile, filled with goofiness.
Cole exaggeratingly sighed and play-pouted. "Okay, fiiiine..." Then his face got serious, "But be careful. There are tons of idiots this time of year. And the roads are slick."
"Yeah, I will." She gently pat his cheek, giggling softly. "There's no need to try to take the Mom role." She pushed his face away and got up, shutting off her computer.
"I prefer the 'Dad' role." He stood up straight and placed hands on his hips, looking away when she changed into clothes, and looking at her when she was done.
"Oooh, kinky," Aicusa smirked a bit, pulling her shoes on. "But in a 'We're just friends' kind of way." Cole hummed thoughtfully, a devilish smile creeping over his face. She looked at him and her pale face turned cherry red. "Pervert! I might just change my mind about getting food for you."
"Awe, c'mon! I'm a hormonal 23-year-old... I deserve food, don't I?" Point. And I can't starve my roommate.
She pushed out a sigh, folding her arms as she slung her purse over her shoulder. "Yeah, you do. Only because it's against the law to starve a human being. I don't wanna go to prison for something as stupid as that."
Definitely not that... Maybe something more epic... "Let me guess. You'd rather go to jail over "accidentally" discovering that aliens actually do exist and the government was really covering something up."
"Bingo! Okay, no more distractions, I just wanna get this done. I'll be back in maybe... 15 minutes. An hour at most." Crap... Why did I say that?
"Well then, hell! I'm going with you." He tossed a hoodie on over his black "wife-beater", sliding on black tennis-shoes. "Even though you don't want me to."
