Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table at the Great Philadelphia Comic Con this past weekend! It was my first time doing that show, and I had a lot of fun! I'll also be doing a Free Comic Book Day event at my local comic shop (Plymouth Meeting Mall) this weekend. Unfortunately having back-to-back events means that I won't have time to put together a page this week, so look for the next update on Thursday, May 10th. See you guys then! :)
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend (holiday or otherwise). I'm sure you've noticed that there was no page this past Thursday. What's up with that, right? Well, the short answer is, it took too damn long, and that's a problem.
Now I'm not trying to be glib; it actually IS a problem, and has been for some time. I spend WAY too long on each page, and tackling these complex scenes has really made it apparent that I need to find a way to work smarter, not harder.
So what does that mean for you guys? Well, hopefully not much. You might see a little experimentation here and there, but I'm determined to make sure the quality of the pages doesn't slip. If all goes well, it'll also mean fewer late/missed pages. Honestly I hate doing that to you guys, and I'm so grateful you stick with me. The truth is, even 80+ pages in, I still feel like I've got so much to learn!
Anyway, the next update will be this Thursday. In the meantime, if any of my fellow artists have workflow tips they'd like to share, I'm all ears. ;)
I'm surprised you can do one of these pages a week. Maybe taking some time to build a buffer would be good? Or even doing a page every other week? (As I'm not an artist, that's all I can suggest.)
Whatever you decide, I just hope you will continue to put out updates you're proud of.
I'm changing up the way I work on these pages, so hopefully that will help build up a buffer. I still want to do a page a week because...well, because I'm stubborn. :P But I super appreciate your patience and understanding. <3
Hi guys! I've got a brief announcement. I'm working on another small project (which I hope to be able to share with you all soon) with a deadline that's coming up fast. That means I'll be pouring a lot of time into it the next few weeks, so Third Shift Society updates will likely be a little spotty this month. Sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope you can be patient with me. In the meantime, here's a little peek at the project in question. :)
Sorry guys, but it looks like there won't be a page this week. I got sick AGAIN, so I figure that's my body's way of telling me to slow down a bit. I'm going to rest and hopefully be back on track next week. Hope you're all doing well and enjoying the holiday season. :)
Thanks everyone! I'm feeling much better -- just have to remind myself to take it easy now and then. Hope you're all having a great new year so far! :D
Aww, thanks very much! (◕‿◕✿)
Right now I have physical copies of chapter 1 that I sell at conventions, but I haven't figured out a good way to print and ship them that's economical for both sides. If I ever offer them for sale online, rest assured I'll mention it here! :D
Hi guys! Just popping in to let you know that TSS will be returning mid-February. I'll be trying out some new stuff this chapter that I hope you guys are going to like. Look for preview images soon! :D
