For those of you who live in or near London, I invite you to meet me this week-end at Comic Con! I'll be in the artists village sharing a crammed table with Tapas heavy weights Marvin and Blop. Find us on spot CY8 near Silver and Bronze theaters, as you can see on the beautiful graphics below.
You can come and say 'Hi!', which would me very much appreciated, and also maybe to purchase wonderful imprints of TOHOLS embellished with updated art and shiny covers, as well as two exclusive prints!
It's been two weeks since I finished publishing chapter 3. I've meant to say a little word of goodbye right away but found out I wanted to empty my head a little bit before. Sorry about that.
Sooo... First of all, I want to give my biggest thanks to those of you who have followed and supported TOHOLS, either recently or from the beginning. A lot of authors say it but it's true: appreciation means the world to us, that's what makes all that work worth the effort. I'm going to rant next, but I really want you to know I'm super glad for your likes and comments.
Unfortunately, those of you who know me are aware that my Tapas(tic) experience brought a lot of mixed feelings. New pages of TOHOLS gather around forty views on the first week-end... which is kind of extremely low. I've tried to contact staff members to ask them help with give my work more visibility, to no answer yet. I guess they get a lot of that, and as the site seems to focus more and more towards mobile-friendly concent, TOHOLS is just not a priority.
Still, that not great news for me, especially since I'm very proud of how this comic turned out to look like in chapter 3. I don't plan to drop TOHOLS entirely, but for the foreseeable future I'm going to focus on other stuff, if only for the sake of my own sanity.
I might return after that, but for those of you who wont be here anymore, I say thanks for sharing those moments with me. To the others, farewell until next time.
yeah - good question - "Why do some "good" comics seem to have unusually low numbers of subscribers ?" and also ask "how are the StaffPick comics chosen ?" -- Yep - I just don't know.
(At the end of each of the last update there used to be three StaffPicks (new or lesser known comic.) For the last 2 months it's been either novels or locked comics ! Nothing wrong with either of 'em ... I would have preferred that they had kept on promoting regular comics and -le sigh- found other ways of bringing in novels & locked comics)
And as always, if you need time away. Take it. You gotta take care of yourself first !
Quick note to signal that there was a mess up with yesterday's page. I had programmed the publishing to the wrong date, causing it to appear before the previous one. Tapastic doesn't allow for page rescheduling so I had to suppress Chapter 3, Page 11 altogether. I'm not home right now so I can't re-upload it properly, but it should be done by tonight or tomorrow morning tops.
I don't know if anyone is still hanging around but to those who do: sorry for not giving more news. I've had a lot of work so for almost one year I haven't been able to work on TOHOLS. But the good news is chapter 3 is on its way!
I've finished the layout, the rough, and I have now about half the pages done. I'm quite happy about how that chapter turned out (visually and storytelling-wise), and exited to show you the results. The publication will start SOON with a special five pages issue.
One last thing: in the fall of 2015 I had promised and never delivered two free commissions. Chocolate and Sid Bane, I sincerely apologize to you both. Please let me know if you're still interested!
Haha, that's because Marvin draws in a very cute style and I have deep-rooted trouble with cuteness :'''). I can do ugly-cute, though (like Milton). Working on it! Anyway, I'm glad you like it :D
I suppose your right haha
Your style suits your story and if you would draw it differently it wouldn't be the same anymore... so everything is good :D And Milton has his very own brand of cuteness xD
Here is the cheerful gryphon we all need! Thank a lot to Cindy Foster and her series "Oops a Comic Adventure", that you can read here => http://tapastic.com/series/OopsComicAdventure
:D I though the lines looked ancient and whimsical and that it would be cool to have on an accessory from Thantopolis! But I understand it would be tedious to draw on every panel :')
Sorry for the long time with no news, a lot has been going on for me, including a big trip across Europe and a new job! But have no fear, I've started working on TOHOLS chapter 3. (More on that soon.)
I want to reward you for your patience and support, subscribers old and new. I've decided to take free drawing commissions! Anybody who wants a unique, original drawing just let me know in the comments : it can be TOHOLS related or not, your OC or something completely different, and is going to be a digital black and white picture such as the one that follows (but please keep it simple, without too many characters or complicated backgrounds). I'll see to limiting the number of pieces if this becomes very popular, but for now, don't be shy. It's my pleasure, really!
I hope you had a nice Halloween, if you are lucky enough to leave in a country where people celebrate it. Lots of love.
Marion
Nope, commissions are still opened! Depending on my schedule I can't promise you to make both, but I'll do at least one of them. (If I found plenty of time and energy, then sure why not :D)
Tomorrow as usual I will publish the next page of The Old House on Lewis Street, and so will I next week but... not the week after that! On page 18, chapter 2 reaches it's conclusion, and I don't have any more pages done for now.
I first imagined TOHOLS for a fanzine I do with my friends, that has roughly an annual publishing rhythm. When I first decided to publish here also, I was wondering if I would have enough incentive to produce a page a week - that would not be impossible, but still very, very demanding of me, especially since I started to work full time. Now, with a grand total of 40 readers as I write those lines, I don't feel my Tapastic experience is worth putting so much effort into publishing weekly.
Now don't get me wrong, some of you who have been active followers have been the loveliest, most excellent of readership, and I hope to keep in touch with you guys. While TOHOLS is on a hiatus, I hope to give you little news and surprises to keep this page alive.
I can't give you a date for the official beginning of "season 3". Let just say it should be somewhere between Christmas and May the 1st, depending on a lot of personal stuff.
I hope you're not too mad at me.
Marion
