Hey everyone, remember when I said I hope my hiatus doesn’t last long haha. Well yah, I kind of got carried away. I’m not coming out of hiatus yet, so I’m sorry if that’s what you were hoping for. I don’t know when I’ll start doing comics again, it might not be for a long time.
But, I do have some good news. I haven’t just completely dropped off the face of the earth. I’ve been doing some animations on YouTube so if you want to watch those, here is the link to my channel:
I found your channel by complete accident. I did a little double take when i saw who it was. Also, how do you animate? Your process seems to be different from mine, so I'd like to know how you do it.
Sure. FIrst, I start off with a rough animatic. I make sure it matches to the audio, and it helps me map out the compositions for each shot. Then I just start animating, shot by shot until I'm done. Sometimes I do rough animation, sometimes I don't. It depends on how complex the animation is. The program I use lets me import the audio so I can make sure everything is properly synced. In terms of the animation itself, I start by doing the key frames, and then add the in betweens. I save hair and stuff for last so I can add secondary motion. And once I'm done animating all the shots I combine them all together in a video editing program. What's your proccess like?
So I do everything in adobe flash/animate. I start off with a rough story board. I go in and sketch in the keys. If i like it, I do rough breakdowns. Once I do that for all the scenes, I clean it up and add inbetweens. I add secondary motion from the start, though doing the hair and clothes after would probably look better. After that I colour and shade (If I want to). After the actual animation is done, I export it in a .SWF and put it through swivel to have it converted into a video. Boom.
Wow, so our processes are actually pretty similar. I used to use flash too a few years ago, but recently I've been using TVPaint. I just do secondary motion later because It's easier for me to do one thing at a time haha.
Hey guys, I'm gonna be going on a hiatus. I want to reduce the amount of drawing I'm doing to help my hand heal. I also need to focus a bit more on school work. Hopefully it doesn't last long, and I hope you guys don't mind.
