Hello, good people!
Welp! It's been a while, huh? Hope you're all doing well despite the bonkers situation all around. I am luckily doing fine.
I'm writing you 'cause Skulls and Coins is gonna be in OFFICIAL hiatus from now on. I know I haven't upload in a really really long time, and I guess you though the series was in hiatus already (which, yeah, it is). But in my head I always wanted to come back. To publish more of this crazy story that I love so much. And to read you all. 'Cause that was one of the best part about this whole deal, reading your comments. I'm so thankful to everybody who took the time to read my stuff and even more to the ones who wrote, doesn't matter if the comment was a long elaborated theory about what the hell was S&C about, or a simple "cool episode". To all of you, many thanks.
On the other hand, I just can't continue with the story. I don't have the energy. I work already 40 hours a week, which I know is the standard thing, but... man, I want to live a little too.
When I was on a roll with S&C, I worked for 10 hours straight, most days of the week. I didn't want to get back to that rhythm. Just work slowly. But that didn't work either. Just sitting to render the next panel seemed like too much work for so little payoff. I don't believe in the possibilty of S&C making a dime, so working on it feeels like too much to chew.
I'm really sad to stop the story now. The next arc was gonna be weird as hell and kinda climatic (for the standards of the series). And who knows, maybe in the future I'll come back, in this format or another, and finish the damned thing.
On the meantime, I'll try to keep drawing, and above all, to enjoy life. To get outside and enjoy the sunshine while we can (the ones we can in this cursed pandemic-scape).
And that's what I wish for all of you. To go and enjoy your life, good people. I hope we'll come across one another doing so.

Will next chapter take me half a year again?! Sigh... Maybe? I don't know. Hope not! 'Cause is a fun one!
Next chapter is about Julia and her (beloved by many) granny Maggie (Margaret for you)! It's another self contained story, that maybe is getting longer than the Tapas can handle for a single chapter. But I won't split it up this time, 'cause there's no good place to add a "To be continued", so I'll just draw it all at once and upload it once is done.
On other news, I'm alive and healthy and I really hope y'all are too! Please take care of yourselves in this weird times. Listen to the doctors (the good ones) and I wish you strength (mentally, emotionally and physically) to endure this confinement.

I've been trying a new schedule to work on Skulls and... well... it failed miserably and I didn't work that much XD
So, I'm back into my morning routine to work an hour or so before going to (actual) work.
Also, Coronavirus and stuff is happening, so everything is weird and I don't actually "go" to work. I now only change desk in my house XD

Just a quick update! I'm still chipping at the inking for the next Skulls&Coins chapter. Is going as good as slow. As ususal XD

Not sure if I'm gonna finish it, though... ANYWAY! This is relevant just 'cause, S&C began as an Inktober 3 years ago! And I'm not sure I have shared that infois story before.
S&C was just 2 separate stories at the time. "Coin for a Head" and "The Whistle Thing" They didn't have any relation between each other. Then, I was in the middle of my first Inktober and I was bored... so I thoutgh, "Why not make some short comic for the rest of the Inktober? A panel a day (or a page a day)? But what story to tell? And, in that moment, don't really know why or how, the 2 stories connected! I spent the rest of the month drawing "Two Coins, Deep River" and "Grand father's Dinner".
After that, the story kinda gained life for itself and it has been growing since then.
So, there you go! What will happen this year?! New stories? New images or ideas for Skull? Who knows?! I don't, that's for sure!

Oh my word! Just took a quick peek at your Instagram and I so excited to see more art and such varied examples of you work. I'm really looking forward to this afternoon so I can make some time to really enjoy looking through them.

A quick reminder that I'm not, in fact, dead. Nor I have abandoned Skulls and Coins!
Next chapter, "Silvia goes to the Market", is a 2 parts story that's already planned. First chapter is 25% inked already. And you can see the WIP cover right here!
Also, kind of important side note:
The Tapas App for IOS seems to be scrutinized nowadays by the Apple Safety Guidelines, and if they find a story that violates those guidelines... well, they don't want to have that kind of story on their platform. And guess who has two thumbs and a messed up sinister story with abuse and gore?! Meeeee!!!
So! Skulls & Coins is not accesible in any IOS platform (I think I understood this right...). And I'm not happy about it. Even though, I totally understand where they're coming from. If they want to be family friendly, hey, it's their platform, they have the right to choose what's available and what's not.
Tapas has been super nice to let me know about all this thing, and they were (are) willing to help me out if I ever want to make a creative censored version to display on IOS. And that's great that they're willing to help me out if I want to. But I don't want to. S&C was a dark and disturbing story from the very beginning, and I don't want to change that. Also, I don't have the time. I have a full time job, and I can barely squeeze drawing the damn thing as it is! So re-desning old chapters to make them feel less disturbing, while telling the same story, will require a cuantity of energy and time that I don't have.
So, yeah. That's that. You won't be able to read S&C on IOS (unless you're already subscribed to it, I guess?) and I won't be doing any changes to the story or the drawings or whatever.
And I'm not dead. And I still work on this series.

Fuck Apple. Use Ecosia to search for stuff in general and read Tapas. As far as I know, they don't track your searches like Apple does, and they plant trees for every certain number of searches you input. #nonspons
