If you could know when and how you would die, would you accept? Well, I was gven that very ability, five minutes before I died. It was sudden, and it shocked me to my core.
***
I was surrounded by nothingness, I couldn't hear, see, or feel anything around me. I tried to move, but even my body seemed foriegn to me. Then a bright light shot through the darkness, along with a large hand that grabbed my body and pulled me away.
Was.... Was I just born? That wasn't fun in the slightest.
After being removed from the poor woman who just gave birth to me, the light began to dim to a bearable degree.
Looking around the room, I could tell that my life wasn't going to be easy. The room itself was wood, with holes and nails everywhere. There were two windows; well there was one window and a sizeable hole in the opposite wall. There were four chairs placed around the room, two of which were occupied. The men seated in the chairs seemed to be identical, the only visible difference being their age. They are most likely my father and brother.
I strained my neck to look over my left shoulder at the man who just ripped me from my mother's womb. He was an older man, not similar to the men sitting down. He had a long white beard, and somehow he also had a staff like walking stick in his other hand. Carrying a newborn baby with one hand, how safe.
A feeble voice called out from behind the old man, " Is my baby ok?! Why can't I hear him??" There was helplessness in her voice, but given the state the room was in and the trauma of childbirth, i'd say her emotions are reasonable. I have a feeling that stillborns and young deaths are common in this world.
" He seems to be healthy, but i will check his body" The old man propped his walking stick against the bed, then placed his forefinger on my forehead. After a second a green/gold light shot into my head.
MAGIC?!?! Magic was the stuff of legends in my past life. I never thought i'd live to see it, well I guess technically I didn't.
I could feel the cool burning sensation running from my forehead down to my spine, then out to the rest of my body. It condensed over each of my vital organs, then moved on the check out my muscles and blood vessels. His magic then started to condense around my solar plexus. A sharp pain shot through my body, it was gradually starting to feel weaker... yet at the same time, more familiar .
"Incredible..." The old man was staring into my eyes during the entire process.. "His core is already half formed." he locked eyes with my father, "I do believe we have a rare talent on our hands."
Embark on a Journey with a young man who's never felt power of his own. Join Drol as he strives to find the last of the dragon race, uncover hidden secrets, and build his strength to the top.
