This story begins in the ancient and mystical realm of the Forest Fairies, also known as Verhmina. Mirella, also known as Mira, was destined to inherit the throne from her beloved parents, Nessa and Dyro Starglade, the reigning monarchs.
Their forest home was a place of wonder and magic, guarded by a powerful barrier that kept them safe and hidden from the outside world, as they had an important duty in which they guarded one of four (fully grown) seedlings of the world tree, Yggdrasil.
But one fateful day, the tranquility of the forest was shattered as dark clouds gathered overhead, heralding the arrival of a great evil.
Malakor, a malevolent god with a thirst for destruction, cast his vile spell over the hearts of men, corrupting them to do his bidding.
Led by Voran the Cruel, Emperor of the Necrothian Empire, a small horde of humans descended upon the fairy forest, their minds twisted by Malakor's influence.
The once impenetrable barrier around the forest fell, leaving the fairies vulnerable and defenseless.
As chaos erupted and the sounds of meaningless slaughter filled the air, Mira and her younger brother Alastair watched on in horror as their father and mother were cut down as they attempted to lead their people to safety, hands held as they passed on from this world together.
Desperation gripped their hearts as they realized the humans had somehow stolen their magic along with the destruction of the barrier.
Alas, they had no other way to defend themselves as they were bound by an ancient pact that forbade them from harming humans.
With no other choice, Mira and Alastair fled, their wings beating frantically as they sought to escape the massacre. But as they fled, it became clear that their pursuers would not relent.
In a final act of desperation, Alastair tapped into a forbidden power, the dark art of blood magic, a skill thought to be the sole domain of humans.
With a mixture of fear and determination, Alastair summoned forth the forbidden magic, weaving a powerful spell that encased Mira in an icy prison as an attempt to protect her from the human's wrath once he realized both could not escape so easily.
The magic flowed through him, draining him of his strength, but he pushed on, knowing that his sister's life depended on it.
As the ice closed around her, Mira fell into a deep slumber, her fate uncertain but safe for the moment, he hoped.
Alastair, gravely fatigued and injured but alive, was aided by the creatures of the forest and a few courageous forest pixies, managing to escape the clutches of their pursuers.
As he struggled to escape, he turned back to look at his elder sister and whispered softly a final goodbye before rushing on, away from his impending doom.
And so, Mira lay in her icy prison, a symbol of hope amidst the devastation, as the forest around her burned with the fires of war.
