Chapter 1: Breaking Out Of This Dump
Clank, clank, clank!
Aster watched with sullen eyes as the prison guard continuously hit the silver spoon against the edge of the metal bowl while shoveling pieces of steak and potatoes into his mouth.
The delectable scent of BBQ sauce brushed against his nose, tempting him to take a bite. His mouth salivated at the thought of how good the warm butter would taste on his tongue.
But Aster was kept away from this precious treat by the neon green lasers holding him prisoner. He didn't dare to reach out to snatch the food from the guard since he liked having his arm exactly where it was.
"What's the matter? You're not looking so hot today. Could it be that all your prison sentences are finally catching up to you?" the prison guard exclaimed with a mouth full of food.
"As if. It's just that seeing your ugly mug puts me in a bad mood, is all. I'm guessing you're here because your hot date stood you up, and you just wanted some company; feel better?" Aster snarkily remarked with a wide grin as he crossed his arms.
The prison guard clenched his teeth in anger. He reached down, gripping the handle of the spoon before pulling it out of the bowl, which caused bits of food to splatter all over the floor.
He waved the silver utensil just beyond the laser bars; tiny pieces of steak rested inside of it. "I bet you wish you had a bit of this delicious, juicy steak. But steak is only for good dogs that don't bark so damn much," he mentioned before slowly eating each piece, purposely savoring the flavor.
Looks like this is some new kind of damn torture. How could I be lucky enough to guess his date stood him up, yet I can't get out of this shitty prison? Aster thought while he closed his eyes to ignore the food not too far from him.
Creaaak!
Aster barely opened his eyes when he heard the sound of the cell door being pushed open.
"You don't have to be so cruel, Rigel," a man with golden locks that acted as a light in the dimly lit room remarked as he walked through the cell door.
Finlay's sapphire blue eyes darted over to Rigel, who nearly shoved half of the food in his bowl into his mouth, which was practically dripping out of his mouth.
"Finlay, come now. He's just a lowly criminal. Why should I care about a piece of shit like him?" Rigel exclaimed. He wiped the food dribbling from his mouth with the back of his white glove, staining it.
The blonde grimaced at the newly created brownish stain on the white fabric. Finlay held back the vomit that was threatening to expel itself from his throat.
"I see you brought the 5-star meal for our bad dog; it's already making my eyes water. Seems like our chef had fun today," Rigel mentioned. He looked at the orange gruel perched in the metal bowl. A purple-hued aroma was wafting up into the air.
Aster could already feel his stomach churning from just the sight of it. The stuff always made his eyes water, and the flavor would keep his stomach upset for days. He wondered how the food alone hadn't killed him yet.
"I finished doing the paperwork you asked me to do earlier, and I placed it on your desk," Finlay mentioned. The report was a lot longer than he had expected, but at least it was now dealt with.
"That's the best news I've heard all day. I'll leave you to feed our pup while I look it over," Rigel said with a smile while he patted Finlay's shoulder on his way out. Happy to be away from that awful-smelling food.
"You're lucky Rigel hasn't cut out your tongue yet," Finlay remarked. He reached up to fix the black and gold prison guard cap on his head, tilting his head back to glance at Aster.
"Nothing that asshole doesn't deserve if you ask me," Aster grumbled. His eyes fluttered open all the way, revealing his arctic blue eyes.
"Seems like you like dancing with death. It'll catch up with you if you keep testing his patience," Finlay warned as he stepped closer.
Finlay reached over to a black box positioned near the lasers and tapped in a long code that forced the green beams of light to stop moving into different formations.
I tried forever to memorize the damn pattern for those lasers. But those bastards keep changing it each month and just made it into a shitty light show that I can't figure out. It still irritates me to see it stopped by just a small measly code, Aster thought, annoyed.
Aster looked up when Finlay reached inside the cell to pass him the bowl of gruel he'd rather not gobble up. His eyes lit up a bit when he saw a small piece of steak sticking out from the orange liquid, carefully concealed.
"Rigel wouldn't be happy knowing you're rewarding a bad dog," Aster pointed out as he stood up. His eyes focused on Finlay as he carefully walked closer, trying not to give Finlay a hint about what he planned on doing next.
"It isn't like he's my best friend. So, he doesn't need to know," Finlay pointed out.
Now's my chance, Aster thought.
Finlay's eyes immediately widened when Aster took hold of his arm, refusing to let go when he tried to retract it.
Finlay stared at him with a cold, dead glare, "I'll give you five seconds to release my arm, or you're going to lose something," he threatened with a dark look in his eyes.
"Come on, you aren't a psychopath like Rigal," Aster pointed out while still not letting go. He watched as Finlay narrowed his eyes at him.
Crap at this rate, I'm going to lose my hand, gotta think..., Aster thought in a panic.
"You're always giving me treats on numerous occasions, and you're never rude to me. I've seen the way you look at me. Just admit that you have the hots for me already," Aster brought up.
Aster slowly traced his fingertips up Finlay's arm. A grin formed on his lips when he felt a small shiver run through Finlay's body.
Finlay gulped before shaking his head. "Don't think I'm stupid enough to play into your games. You think you can manipulate me because I've been only working here for five years," he declared while the brief thought about slicing off Aster's hand crossed his mind.
Crash!
Finlay blinked when the metal bowl was pushed out of his hand and fell to the floor, causing him to look up at Aster's face.
"I don't want the food; I want you!" Aster proclaimed.
Aster teasingly stroked Finlay's arm, his fingertips lightly brushing against the warm skin underneath his black sleeve—a faint blush formed on Finlay's cheek from his actions.
"Why today, specifically? It just doesn't make any...," Finlay spoke before drifting off when he watched Aster lean down to his hand. The color on his cheeks darkened when he felt Aster lightly bite his wrist.
"Because Rigel is always around," Aster pointed out before softly kissing Finlay's gloved hand.
"Just play with me for a bit; it isn't like Rigel will notice. He's busy looking over paperwork, isn't he? Plus, it isn't easy to touch you with these lasers," Aster admitted as he seductively gazed up at him.
He could be tricking me...yet...I, Finlay thought as he hesitantly reached over to the black box that controlled the lasers. Against his better judgment, he typed in the code to disable the lasers. A decision that he would later regret.
The moment the lasers went down, Finlay felt his back against the cool cell wall. Fingers tangled in his blonde hair that tugged him forward toward hungry lips that devoured his, leaving him breathless and wanting more.
Aster grinned into his kiss when he felt Finlay's heartbeat accelerate as his hands explored his upper body. Aster broke the kiss with a pant before he dipped his head down, tracing his tongue along Finlay's neck, earning a moan in return.
A yelp escaped Finaly's lips when his body weight shifted as he was shoved into the chair Rigel had previously been sitting in. He looked up when Aster straddled his hips.
Just a little more, Aster thought briefly. He didn't hesitate to crash their lips back together when Finlay gripped the front of his shirt and tugged him forward.
As the kiss deepened, Finlay's hands moved down to grip the bottom of the chair to prevent them from stumbling over from their shared weight.
Aster's hands sneakily descended, softly caressing Finlay's sides while gently biting his lower lip.
Click!
Finlay's eyes instantly widened, recognizing the sound. Just before he could raise his other hand up, Aster forced it behind the chair and connected the other half of the handcuff to it, causing Finlay to grit his teeth.
"Sorry, no hard feelings, but I really like having my limbs," Aster mentioned as he snatched the key out of Finlay's other pocket before moving off of him.
"I should've known; letting you out was a terrible idea! I'm such an idiot!" Finlay barked.
Finlay struggled to free his hands but flinched when the metal of the cuffs started to pierce into his skin. But at the same time, there was an ache in his heart for being played for a fool by letting his emotions make decisions for him.
"Now, don't get the wrong idea; I do like you. But this was the only way to break out of this dump. Plus, I can't have you getting in my way and getting hurt with what I'm about to do next," Aster mentioned as he walked over to the cell door.
"Wait!" Finlay shouted, causing Aster to stop in his tracks and glance over his shoulder.
"Sure, it might only be Rigel and me who watch over these prison cells in this section. But, once you get out of here, they'll kill you for sure, and there'll be too many prison guards for you to handle," Finlay explained, hoping Aster would realize just how stupid and risky his plan actually was.
"I guess that's just the risk I'm willing to take. As they say, if it's not dangerous, what's even the point," Aster said as he twirled the gold key around his index finger. Without a moment's hesitation, he burst out the door.
