Description
Hey, fam! I’m Bree Baxter, your reluctant guide to the world of romance fantasy (and occasional hot mess). Here’s the deal: I was supposed to write a “wholesome romance” for the algorithm gods—cute heroes, lingering stares, a touch of true love, all that jazz. That’s what my editor, Iris, thinks the world needs more of. But when I started adding my usual flair (read: deleting a few clichés and taking creative liberties), things went a little bit… let’s just say off script.
By “off script,” I mean my characters staged a literal rebellion. Prince Broody, with his smug smirk and suspiciously good hair, somehow promoted himself to main character status and is now practically winking at me from the page (oh, and yes, he drinks pumpkin spice lattes). Meanwhile, my other characters—who were supposed to stay in their lanes—are waging an all-out genre war. Cute, right?
Now it’s me versus my own story, in a romance fantasy world I’m technically supposed to be writing but… may or may not be getting trapped in. Like, literally trapped—tied up by my own characters, accidentally becoming the very tropes I was supposed to write—and falling for a fictional prince with perfect hair? It’s fine. Totally fine. Anyway, if you’re ready for one author’s epic struggle with tropes, rogue characters, and a very inconvenient existential crisis, grab your popcorn and hit “read.”
*Iris, my editor, peers over my shoulder with a disapproving sigh*
“Bree, this is not the description we discussed.”
