Fwoosh~
A young woman stood atop a mountain gazing at the area down below. Her curly brunette hair dancing in the wind.
Laughter and happiness could be heard from the distance she stood, but only she could hear how fake the sound truly was.
How these humans all pretended to be alright, when on the inside they were actually falling into despair after discovering their spouse’s infidelity; others seething with anger actions uninhibited due to the influence of alcohol. It was human nature to hide fear and irritability behind a facade; many could argue that it were their personality shining through, but don’t come to the realization that they’ve perfected the mask over the years.
How, even though she knew it were a mask, she had still stayed for him. For the future he had planned out with both of them in it. A man who squandered their money until they were broke, a man whose loose tongue had caused a hoard to try to kill her in her sleep. A man who, when questioned, said they had no idea who she was and attempted to kill her himself. Betraying her love for him, betraying their future together, and ultimately betraying her trust in revealing her secret to him.
She squinted her eyes in distaste, humans really were pathetic.
With a twist of her hand she commanded the wind to bend to her will and surround her, making her go invisible.
She hopped off from the mountain, slowly floating down—landing in front of the open gates.
Merchants and the like were waiting in line to get in the village, but she was able to enter the area with ease. Those around her would not notice her presence, thinking it were a small breeze that had passed them.
I will not make the same mistake. I will never fall in love again.
