Note: This Series is a heavily condensed preview of the actual novel, "70 Fierce Years". The original novel will be completed and released in digital and physical print edition in April 2023.
"70 Fierce Years" follows the life of (as narrated in his own voice) Andrei Danilovich Novokshonov, a Don Cossack officer who loses his rank and property as a result of the Soviet De-Cossackization Policies, and now must forge a new identity and life in the newly formed Soviet Union.
But rank and property are not only what Andrei Danilovich has lost. He's lost his family, his comrades, his brothers-in-arms, and most importantly, his Cossack heritage.
What is he now?
A man belonging nowhere, yet rooted in the same Don Steppe he grew and thrived on in his youth and turbulent manhood.
But even the Steppe of the Don now changes before his eyes...
And in his journey to find his footing in this new world, Andrei encounters a woman whose lost her own world in the wake of the bloody Revolution.
Tatusya (Tamara) Georgievna is an enigmatic woman from Georgia, living in Novocherkassk, Russia, in a perilous profession during the tumultuous conclusion of the Bolshevik Revolution.
Andrei and Tatusya cross paths in desperate and cynical circumstances- but the mismatched two form an unlikely understanding between themselves as they seek to make sense of an alien world in the new society.
As they emerge in the new Soviet society, live through the settled years of the New Economic Policy (NEP), only to encounter the outbreak of WWII, and face the tense years of the Stalinist Terror, Andrei and Tatusya forge their own path ahead.
