i am sorry to say i haven't been enjoying drawing forever at all lately. i don't know what i should do can any of my 23 subs help me out? what do i do?
Oy, I feel that! Well, a motivational slump at least, thanks to losing some work I was actually proud of...like 2 months ago but I'm still feeling that... do you know the source of your discontent with drawing? I'm rather new to your work and enjoyed archive-binging and seeing swift improvement. It seems a thing with artists that the better you get, the harder it is to make work you're happy with! Because you've improved you look at your own work with a more critical eye, and sometimes it feels like you've lost the love for it, and it takes longer and longer to finish. When I'm feeling negative about my work, personally, I try to take a step back and examine things that make me feel creative, things that influence and inspire me, that drove me to become a creator. Dissect these things and see what it is about them that I love, what style elements I can absorb into my own world and make my own version of them... maybe that's just me, but experimenting with style and new methods helps me feel like it's less of a chore and more an adventure in artistic discovery. Sometimes something as simple as trying a new brush/inking method out can make a world of difference. I also find it helps to make a playlist of music that gels with what I'm working on, it helps things feel like they are going faster rather than taking an interminable amount of time to finish. (edit-I'd also add, ask yourself what it is about Forever that is affecting you negatively that your other comic perhaps isn't. Maybe carry over some of those elements? If where you are in the process makes you unhappy, it's your work-- make those changes as you go along, make things that make you happy to work on them.) Heh, I hope this ramble is helpful in some way!
