As you've probably noticed, Little Jimmy Overalls has swapped back to Saturdays at 10 am PST. While Instagram performed much better, I noticed a pretty big hit to Tapas readership - so I'll be publishing the comic at different times depending on platform.
If you all have a day/time that you'd prefer seeing the strip, please let me know!
I try to follow more of the funny pages (Calvin and Hobbes or Little Orphan Annie, for instance, on the Simple Things), but sometimes have trouble getting characters to emote enough in my scenes. What would you say is the best way to get that expressiveness?
I find that the two most important parts of the face for expressiveness are the eyebrows and the mouth. I'd suggest creating a few different eyes, eyebrows, and mouths, then dropping them on a blank face randomly just to see what expressions pop up.
That sort of thing will give you a great starting point for understanding what nuanced expressions can do for a character.
