It's been... TWO YEARS??? OMG I'm so, so sorry! Still thank you everyone who has come to read Beast Slayers. It's a comic I LOVE and I never wanted to stop working on.
And I didn't!
It's been a rough couple of years. For one I started my own company and had a TON of work to do, but it's going well so... at least there's that! Also had a lot of personal work to do, a lot of it involving art. I started going to the psychologist to treat it, and I strongly recommend it.
The good news is... there's MORE BEAST SLAYERS COMING! I can't promise anything, but if all goes well, I'll be back to publishing as often as I can. I love this series and I really want to see it to the end.
I already have some work done so it's not an empty promise, and I'll start publishing it as soon as I have some to schedule regularly.
Thank you so much for reading it and I hope you're here to keep the story going! Even one person reading it is enough for me to keep going!
September is upon us and so is the new season of Beast Slayers! Script is pretty much done, and I've already started drawing concept art and characters.
I've also been working on the overall arc of the entire story, as before it was just a vague outline with plot points... hopefully we'll get to the end at some point!
I'll try to have the new pages out as soon as possible, definitely next month. Hope you like where it goes!
Just wanted to update you on the process of Beast Slayers, script is moving forward quite fast and I'm still aiming at a September date for I guess "season 2" of the series. You'll see a lot of changes in the way the story is told and probably even the art, hopefully for the better! I have decided to take a less "in situ" approach with the series an do careful planning from now on, hence the break. New characters, new adventures and new monsters will be coming next season... and of course new mysteries!
I also wanted to give you another behind the scenes look at some revisions I made to the character of Logan. Keep in mind these revisions are just tests, they will not be applied to the comic, but I still thought they might be interesting to look at, so here they are! There's quite a bit more bts stuff but as it contains spoilers I'll save it for later.
Anyway, rant is over, hope you're enjoying Beast Slayers, please share it with your friends as it would help quite a bit, and hope you'll like season 2 coming in September!
Hey everyone! New update today, two more pages! Next one (for now) will be back to the one page format, although I'm considering other options.
Also, the current arc is reaching its end, Logan and Nessa have met and their adventure is about to begin. As such I have already started work on the next arc, and you can have a tiny sneak peek of the characters that will be joining the story soon right here!
Like I mentioned in my previous post, with the implementation of the new method I've been able to speed up page creation a bit, and since I'm a couple of pages ahead I have decided that the next two updates will include not one but TWO pages at once. This will happen as often as I'm able, so I hope you enjoy it!
Cheers and see you on Wednesday for the first double update!
Hey everyone! So, good news, I'm now a bit ahead on the publication schedule so new pages should be coming in very regularly. I have implemented a new method inspired by LavanderTowne (if you haven't read her work, go, it's amazing!) and it's working very well in the saving time front.
Hope you're enjoying Beast Slayers and looking forward to what's to come!
My previous colouring method was very time consuming as I'd do it panel by panel. Since I draw on Procreate, even with an ipad pro it consumes a ton of memory, so I had to create multiple files of each page and work on each panel individually. Watching a video she made I noticed she used a layer for each color of every panel. I didn't think it would work for me, but I tried it and voila! Much more practical, less time and memory consuming and looks just as good.
In retrospect it sounds obvious but hey, as long as you learn!
Do you have the video (LavanderTowne) made where she uses a layer for each color of every panel or even just the name of it? I need a lot of help. Thanks so much.
