Just a quick status update on my projects. Both Lemongrass and Distant Lights will be returning soon!
I am being made redundant at the end of this month, which is not great for my finances, or my confidence in myself as a functioning adult. It is, however, great for my personal projects, because I'll soon have a lot more time to work on them. I've been struggling to fit in both my projects and job hunting while working full time, and I am thoroughly burnt out and miserable from everything that has happened at my soon-to-be-non-existant job, and it's going to be a huge relief to be done with it.
For Lemongrass, I have the script for chapter eight pretty much nailed down at this point, so I just need to sketch the page layouts and then I can finally get drawing again.
For Distant Lights, I have nearly 6k words to finish off, edit, and then break into smaller chunks for posting. It's been a bit of an adventure figuring out how to make my longer chapters work with the short episode format here, and I still haven't quite worked it out.
Sorry for the delays with both Lemongrass and Distant Lights. I hope to be able to resume normal updates soon. Unfortunately between tech problems (a broken phone and a computer with a hard drive about to fail), NaNoWriMo, and the fact that my job has abruptly come under threat, I've been a bit snowed under.
Distant Lights chapter five is nearly complete, so I'll be able to start posting it in parts soon.
The final three pages of Lemongrass chapter seven are almost fully pencilled now (one left with some work left), so I'll be able to scan those and get started on the inks and colouring soon. I've also begun sketching new outfits, locations, and hairstyles for chapter eight.
Follow me as I shirk my duties as a webcomic artist and decide to take on Inktober the month before NaNoWriMo, while using a traditional brush pen that I haven't practiced with in years:
(I am still working on the next page of Lemongrass, by the way. This chapter, plus my life in general, has left me a little burnt out, but I'm getting there.)
I'm afraid Lemongrass will be on a short break for a week or two. I moved out of my family's house again at the weekend, and my new place doesn't have a proper desk. I've ordered myself a new one, but it won't arrive until next weekend, and I won't have space to use my tablet until then. In the meantime, I'll be working on pencils, and recovering from the cold I just caught (only a month after recovering from the last one…)
I have a few sample pages up on tumblr of my next long-term comic project after Lemongrass. It's a little way off, because I still have two chapters left of Lemongrass after the current one ends, and I have a few short stories I want to draw before taking on something longer again, but these pages are part of a failed pitch, so they're already done: http://gateofselidor.tumblr.com/post/155175756245/
ahhhhh gosh, I'm so slow to say it but a very belated THANK YOU!! for checking out RW -- and for all your likes every week!! <3 It means a ton, and I really hope you continue to enjoy the comic! :D
Thank you to everyone for their patience! I'm inking the next page, as well as working on the pencils for the one after that, so updates should resume again shortly.
I've had a busy few weeks. I moved out of London after losing my job, reconnected with some colleagues from a couple of years ago, and wound up being invited to work with them again for a couple of months, helping with ongoing content for the game I helped make last time I worked there.
As I mentioned in the comments of the latest page, I am putting Lemongrass on a short break for the rest of September, to finish work on my submission to Sparkler Monthly.
Once I'm back, I hope I'll be able to start updating with two pages per week again. I recently lost my job, and haven't found another one yet, so I want to try and make the best of it by using the extra free time constructively.
I've also been working on a short BL/fantasy visual novel for a while now. I started it during Yaoi Jam, but didn't have enough time to finish. I hope to get it finished by the end of this year, for release early next year. I'll announce it on Tapastic when it's done, but if you want to follow the development, I post about it periodically on my main Tumblr: http://gateofselidor.tumblr.com
Here's a preview of the main characters, with the protagonist in the middle.
