"Until when?" Someone asked.
"Until he probably gets tired of us?" I shrugged.
Mr. Everett smiled lightly. "What's your name?" He asked, referring to me.
"Kai."
"Mhmh. Kai. I guees you're the comedian of the class?"
Comedian? "Umm.."
"More like; The Artist" Lizzy chimed in.
"That's better."
"Oh, is that so?" He tilted his head slightly to the side. "What–" He didn't manage to finish what he wanted to say as the bell rang, signaling it's the start of the first lesson for the day. Ugh, it's going to be a long day.
He clapped his hands together. "Okay students, we'll start by introducing yourselves."
One by one my classmates said their names and then we were next.
"Liam Wyatt" Liam said. The teacher nodded at him with a smile and a nod of acknowledgement that Liam returned. They already know eachother? Since when?
My thoughts were cut off when Liam called my name and poked my cheek.
"What?" I asked, resulting in him giving me a look that said "Really? You good?"
Then I remembered that it was my turn to introduce myself. "Oh."
"My name's Kai. Kai Holloway" I said but I don't know if I needed to. Why do I have the feeling he already knew?
After that, our new teacher started his lesson. I and Liam zoned out.
"Sooo... Did you convince your mum to let us go shopping on our own?" Liam hopefully asked.
"Ughh.." I groaned dramatically. "Like she would ever."
"Seriously?" He grunted.
"Don't worry, after school we'll go back home and try to convince her to let us. Use puppy eyesss" I reminded him.
"Kai and Liam" Mr. Everett called, getting our lost attention back. "Please pay attention" he requested kinda demandingly. "I don't want to be labeled as the "bad teacher" on my first day if I'll have to seperate you two."
He turned back to writing on the board. I and Liam switched glances. He shrugged and we turned our head and attention to focus back on the lesson.

The bell rang, signaling the end of the lesson. The class started to empty. Some went outside and some stayed inside the building or classes. Our class was usually empty. And today wasn't any different.
"That day is going to be looong" Liam complained.
"It sure is going to be a torture" I agreed.
"Should we go to our tree?" He asked and I gave him a smirk.
"Hellllyeaahhh." We both snickered like the two idiots we were.
We got up from our seats, stretching and yawning. "You going through that window?" Liam asked, rolling his eyes when I nodded.
"Positive."
"I'll just go through there." He pointed to the door and I shrugged. "Let's see who's faster."
"Lesgooo." I yawned again. When I closed my mouth, he was already out of the door.
"Hey" Mr. Everett suddenly called. I turned to face him, two legs already over the window sill. Whoops. I did not even notice he was still here.
I obviously wouldn't have tried it if I had.
So I tried to keep it cool. "Umm... yeah..?"
"The door is right there." He pointed to his left and I raised an eyebrow, glancing to the door and back at him.
"Yes Mr. Everett, I can see that, I'm not blind."
"So, get down from that window and walk through the door to wherever you want."
"Umm... Nuh."
His expression darkened at my refusal. "Let me rephrase that." His tone was pretty scary. And it was even scarier when he stood up from his seat and stepped closer to me. "You will get down from that window, and you will walk through that door, or stay in class. Your choice. But that window, is off limits."
But like the stubborn me I was, I argued back. "But.. I do that all the time, and with all due respect, you won't tell me what to do" I replied. And holy shit, my heart missed a beat when he walked the remaining steps towards me.
He stopped infornt of me and I looked up at him. "Kai" he said dangerously. "Do not, make me, repeat myself" he growled out.
I didn't want to listen, but I couldn't quite refuse also. I didn't want to make bad first impression on our new teacher. And even if I already did, I didn't want to make it even worse.
And I had the feeling he might even use hands if I refused again. So, a little very reluctantly, I jumped down from the window and landed on the floor. I breathed in reliefie when the room immediately felt lighter.
"Fun wrecker" I grumbled and heard him laugh. I turned around to look at him, raising my eyebrow. He just smiled and went back to his desk. Other teachers would be a little mad at least. I think...
But he just laughed it off.
I think he's going to be a pretty fun teacher actually. All we need to do is wait and see. And probably not test his patience...

When I finally was down in the big yard, I walked to our tree. Something was weird. Liam wasn't there like he always were. Maybe he stopped to talk with someone?
I sat my bag on the ground and turned around, trying to spot Liam. Soon enough I saw him talking to someone, just like I suspected.
"Liam!" I yelled and caught his attention. He smiled and waved at me. I started walking towards him, confused when his smile suddenly faltered and his expression turned serious. Not only his, a few kids even started yelling and taking out their phones.
