YIPPEE! I'm finally getting to post this page of backgrounds. One huge goal of mine for this comic is to get a lot more comfortable with backgrounds and color, so trial by fire?
Also, if you're willing to give feedback, how do you all feel about the hazy and scratchy artistic styling of the flashbacks? Is it quickly recognizable as a flashback? My early readers said it was but I want to make sure from a wider audience as if it's not working I want to know for future flashback scenes to tackle them a bit differently. Thank you!
I think it would read more clearly as a flashback if (a) my phone’s screen was bigger so I could see the details better and (b) the characters were also drawn in a scratchy/hazy/less rendered style
"When Ashai Revali finds herself as a bard’s unknowing new muse, it’s not exactly the romantic ballad a Javarkan princess would dream of. The words paint a twisted image of her half-Hollo heritage—a cursed race with an affinity for Blight magic. Her mother’s homeland, The Pact, is said to be infested with monsters and scorned by their gods. The Javarkan Empire has come to despise their occult neighbors and regard those who wish to cross the border with suspicion.
Such suspicion falls on the disgraced elven noble, Cas Filvar, when he finds himself in the company of Kipcha, a Hollo woman of unknown origins. Some question if she has faltered his allegiance to the Empire, while others argue such allegiance never existed.
Just three more souls lost to The Decay."
INTENDED FOR 18+ READERS
Echoes of Decay is a Dark Fantasy with a heavy lean on the natural macabre, folklore, and monsters. While dark, it is also intended to have its times of fun and character-driven dynamics.
This story is written through a queer lense, so while not an LGBTQ+ story specifically, it has queer themes and characters in the forefront.
