Both Yang and Yin let out a sigh of relief and then left the office themselves. The two headed into an empty classroom staring right at each other.
“That was a bold move, Yang,” Yin said. “I can’t believe you did that…”
“Did what?”
Yang smiled.
“Tell the truth~?”
Yin smiled back.
The two embraced each other in a loving hug and pressed their lips against each other. The moment realistically was only a minute but for them, it was equal to that of an eternity.
After a while, the two parted lips to breathe—leaving a string of salvia connecting their tongues. A ticklish sensation filled their bodies and both Yin and Yang could not contain their fits of laughter.
Yin then carried Yang's bridal style and sat by the window, staring at each other as if they were a special treasure that no one in the world could find.
“I can’t believe we actually escaped,” Yin stated. “I never felt so free in life.”
Yang nodded.
“I know! The earth feels so different compared to the Spirit World! The food here is quite interesting too!”
“Yes, this place is wondrous—but remember Yang, we are not here on vacation.”
“Right…we are here to get our memories of our previous lives back. Where should we start looking?”
“...That’s a good question.”
Yin started to sweat nervously as Yang laughed hysterically.
“Well, it’s no surprise. We both have no clue of what era we lived in.”
“That just means we have to be very diligent in searching for it. There are answers in this world.”
“Of course there! We used to be human! There is no other place we could have lived but earth!”
“We are going to have to be discreet about our mission. No doubt the Priestess sent her spies to come look for us.”
Yang scowled.
“Don’t mention that horrible lady’s name.”
Yin answered, “It’s not her name, it’s a title. The Priestess has no name to speak because she is a “Spirit of Judgement”. A being with no soul.”
“...Why do you think she tried to keep the secret from us? Is this a punishment we committed after we died?”
“If we committed some sort of unforgivable sin before our death the basic thing to do would be to send our souls to Hell. But they didn’t do that nor did they send us to Heaven! They made us…Guardians…”
“But why us? Why were we made Guardians instead of passing on?”
“I’m not sure but…I’m certain the truth lies with how our lives went.”
“You’re right…but I don’t want to think about that right now.”
“Hm?”
Yang brought Yin’s face closer to hers and started kissing him again. The boy did not hesitate to kiss her back.
“Let’s savor this moment…between the two of us~...”
“Of course~...”
In the silent and empty classroom, Yin and Yang—The Former Guardians of the Gate of the Afterlands—embraced each other in such a deep tender love that the whole city of Shibuaya could drown in it. For that was the vast ocean of their care which transcended time, space, and life.
