“My lady? My lady? My lady are you ok?” The sound of someone calling for her took Calistana out of her thoughts. “Oh, Dalanci, I have a question.” Dalanci, Calistanas maid, answered very politely, “What can I help you with my lady?” Dalanci waited for a reply while she filled up a up with warm tea, “How long would it take for me to leave the capital?” The sound of a shattering cup hitting the floor filled the room, and Dalanci's jaw was practically on the floor as she slapped her hands over her mouth to stop herself from gasping, “M-my lady how could you ask me something like that?! You’re not planning to do what I think you are right my lady..?” The room was quiet, a pen could drop and you could hear it bounce off the floor type of quiet. Calistana looked away and laughed with a sort of awkward expression, "M-my lady..?" Dalanci slumped to the floor in confusion and an overwhelming sense of panic, she had never been trained for this situation, so that reaction was understandable. She had been right by Calistana side for the last 16 years of her life, yet she had no idea what possessed her to say such a thing.
For the next week and a half, Calistana kept asking that question, and Dalanci always had the same reaction, "My lady did you say something? Oh you wanted snacks? Yes I'll bring them to you right away!". After that, Calistana decided to take things into her own hands. She searched for books, maps, money (or anything small and valuable), and mage scrolls. Mage scrolls helped mages cast magic they weren't familiar. In this case, Calistana would need to learn transformation magic to change her appearance. When Dalanci realized that Calistana wasn't going to change her mind about leaving, she volunteered to go with her, and so their five step plan to leave the dukes mansion was set into place.
