I was falling for less than a second before taking off like a hawk towards the Ice Dragon dude. Seems this ability is more like a passive one, I can't feel my mana going down at all. Time to try some offence. I stopped about 40 feet away from him. His eyes drilling into me as if i was a fresh sandwich. Disgusting pig. I held up my hand and activated Static fusion, that paired with the gift of flight brought my speed in the sky to extraordinary heights. The ice dragon tried to duck out of my path, but my palm caught him square in his jaw. Even with the clear age difference I could feel his jaw crack with the hit. He let out a rough before he went flying, barely catching himself before slamming into the side of a building.
"You will pay for that, Runt!" A thin trail of blood ran down the man's cheek, making him look slightly more intimidating than before. His suit was in tatters due to him practically bouncing off the pavement after i hit him. He stood, staggering slightly as he tried to gauge my strength. "You're fast, i'll give you that. But i've faced faster." He brought his arms up above his head. Behind him, two ice pillars sprouted from the ground. They grew till they somewhat resembled dead trees. The tempurature dropped significantly as the trees took shape, I could feel my speed drop somewhat. Simultaniously, the ice trees released their frozen branches. They shot into the air, circling the two of us, waiting for a command.
I activated Aethric Intent, instantly canceling it as I noticed the drain on my mana reserves. less than a second and nearly an eighth of my mana reserves were spent. I'll have to form that aethric shell if I want to be able to use those abilities regularly. At least i've got enough mana to keep static fusion active for a good while still. I activated static shield, but instead of forming a single shield around my body, I had to strain a bit to form two miniature balls of purple lightning in my palms. With no attack magic of my own, i'll have to make due with this. I shot forward in a streak of violet, extending my left arm forward to make contact with the ice mage. I could feel the heat of the lightning at my fingertips. The ice mage brought up several ice pillars to block my path, but simply touching them with my condensed shields was enough to make them burst into shards.
Seeing that he was backed into a corner, the mage activated several abilities. Ice armor began to form all over his body, branching out to form spikes as an extra layer of defense. In each of his hands a battleaxe made of crystal clear ice was born. They were truly magnificent to look at, not even a single reflection off their surfaces but I could see through them almost perfectly. Strange to see a mage with weapons, but I can't let my guard down.
Readying myself, I let the condensed shield in my left hand expand to wrap around my body. Then I attempted to pump as much mana as i could muster into the condensed shield in my right hand. I had to continue to wrestle for control of the spell to keep it the right size and shape. After a few seconds I had succeeded in pushing half of my mana pool into my right hand. Surprisingly, a new prompt appeared before my eyes.

With no chance to read through the list of prompts in my view, I pushed my speed to the limit and slammed my palm toward the ice mage's chest. He seemed to have been taken by surprise, but he was able to push my hand to the side and used a gust of cold wind to sweep him back about five yards. Seems this guy can use more than just ice magic, that'll be tricky. As he regained his foothold he conjured five frozen orbs that dropped the tempurature to well below freezing. Each orb then began to morph and take the shape of arrows as thick as human arms. Without losing any time, he let the oversized arrows loose. They shot towards me with alarming speed, giving me little time dodge one before being almost pinned by another. Being pushed on the defensive, I canceled the condensed static shield and instead activated my new spell. Fulgar Empetum Burst to life in my palm, even more beautiful than I expected it to be. Rather than simply purple lightning like the shield, Fulgar Empetum seemed almost like a burning ball of purple plasma. Almost liquid even. Testing its description, I sent the orb a mental command to target the ice arrows.
