A man in a white leather robe walked up and stood between Koran and I. "Quite the hidden genius you've found yourself Koran, and at such a young age as well. Has this boy even been named?"
He was tall and thin, with a regal air about him. He had a short black beard that ended at a point. His eyes were narrow and serious, like he'd had a staring contest with the sun. Over his robe was a tight fitting steel jerkin that allowed him to move freely while still offering considerable protection. On his hip hung a silver sword with a white and black jade yin yang symbol on the hilt. Judging from the sheath, the blade is long and thin; most likely as extravagant as the hilt and sheath.
"Headmaster Clarke, so good to see you again. You are correct, this young genius is here to recieve my tutelage and training. His naming ceremony will take place in 4 months time. We are on our way to get him enrolled now, care to join?"
As the headmaster was about to respond, a series of loud groans came from my opponent who was now crumpled up in a ball on the ground. Patches of his clothes were burnt to ash, revealing reddened skin beneath. Quite a bit of his hair had also been reduced to nothingness, but that would grow back.. over time. Moving his hands beneath him for support, he managed to pick himself up off the ground once again. As he made his way to his feet, I could see that the majority of his upper body was charred black.
"Filthy cheater! Only a backwater country bumkin would pull a move like that." He spit out dirt and saliva with each word, making him look even more sinister than he already did.
"Did I cheat Headmaster? If I did then I am incredibly sorry, I have never done a 'pointers match' before." I kept my words as sincere as possible. If I can't win over the students, then the staff will have to do. Besides, who better to have by my side than people who can make me stronger?
Koran stepped forward, putting himself between myself and my opponent. "Enough with the accusations Jesper, learn how to accept defeat properly. Then, you'll truly be stronger."
Jesper lowered his head so that he was looking at his feet, "Yes Master Koran, I understand."
Koran looked from Jesper to me, then smiled slightly. "Well, since you've already had your test of strength. How about introductions. Jesper, this is my niece's son. He's unnamed, he will be joining you in training. As you have witnessed, his specialty appears to be deviant lightning magic" He turned to me, "this is Jesper, he is my primary apprentice. His specialty is earth magic, and he's quite good at it. I actually asked him to challenge you before I left to come get you. I just never thought it would be the second we arrived." He gave Jesper a scolding look, to which the boy simply smiled and lowered his head slightly. "Now, if you will both join me, we need to get this one enrolled." .
After saying our goodbyes to the headmaster, Koran placed his hand on my shoulder as we started weaving our way through the now dispersing crowd. We walked for about 10 minutes before we reached the front of the main academy building. Koran guided us inside the large doors, and through a short maze of hallways before we reached the office doors. From there, He led us into the spacious but not so decorated office. Other than a few benches against the walls, the room was devoid of furniture. At the end of the hallway like room, there was a hip high wall length desk. Sitting at the desk was a thin elderly woman.
She had greyed blonde hair, which was tied up into a ponytail. She was most likely very beautiful when she was younger. Her eyes were a deep blue, with tinges of bright green. They drew a vast contrast, I could barely remove my eyes from her's. She wore a dark red robe similar to the headmaster's. I couldn't see any weapons, though her lower body was covered by the desk.
The woman smiled as we walked up. "Ah Koran, you've finally arrived. Tell me, is that who I think it is?" She pointed a finger right at me.
Embark on a Journey with a young man who's never felt power of his own. Join Drol as he strives to find the last of the dragon race, uncover hidden secrets, and build his strength to the top.
