This is just great. Not even five minutes in this courtyard, and Im being challenged by somoene who most likely knows they're stronger than me.
The smile on my face vanished as I faced my opponent, causing his to increase tenfold. He walked up to me, presenting his hand. I shook it, then stepped back to a comfortable distance. I could feel the mana seeping out of this kid, looks like he doesn't care much for reserves.
"The rules of a pointers match is simple. We take turns dealing attacks, you can choose to block, dodge, or even intercept your opponents attacks with your own. There is a good enough distance between us, so you may begin."
First battle? Why not.
I activated static fusion, which i've been perfecting over the past two years, causing the world to be drowned in purple. Watching my opponent in front of me, it was as if he were moving in slow motion. I launched myself forward, arriving in front of him before he even finished his breath. The flat of my palm connected with his sternum, sending him rolling 10 feet back. My arm was numb up to my elbow. If his attack lands, I wont be able to launch another one with such precision. On top of that, I drained almost half of my mana pool using static fusion. I can't take too many risks from here on out.
Deactivating Static Fusion, I stepped back to allow him to recover. There were numurous voices whispering in the crowd, but I couldn't make any of them out.
Koran walked up behind me, putting his hand on my shoulder. "That was some impressive speed, are you sure you haven't been taught any magic? It's rare for someone so young to create their own spells like that."
His words caused the crowd around us to go into an outrage, "He's had no training!?!" "That's impossible!" "A true magician..."
My head snapped to the crowd, but I couldn't find the source of the last comment I heard. Nor could I discern the rest of it. Letting it pass for now, I reminded myself to ask Koran later.
"KID!" My opponent had pulled himself off the ground, and was now walking toward me with an evil grin. "My turn."
Once those words left his mouth, Two 5 meter long earth spears shot out of the ground. They hovered above his head, waiting for their chance to strike. I watched them carefully, silently activating static shield. As my opponent noticed the thin purple viel covering me, his eyes turned bloodshot. He screamed in rage as both of the spears launched right for me. As they came towards me, I activated static fusion for a split second. In that second, I moved from my position to right behind my opponent. I almost laughed as his spears hit nothing but dust, he looked around the crowd for me but came up with nothing.
I focused static shield around my palm, then whispered "my turn" as I set my hand on his shoulder. His body shook violently for a second, then fell to the ground unconscious and smoking.
