My current understanding of magic in this world is quite lacking. I know that for me, each element appears as a wisp of light. When I connect with it, it becomes of web of connected lines. How do I use magic? I have a slight understanding of how it works for me. When I touch one of the purple lines, a small flash of knowledge appears in my mind, along with a short spurt of power that I can use to create small displays of lightning. My lightning is purple, which is strange to me; but what can I do about it. Even with my 'magician from birth' thing going on, I have a long way to go before I have any real power. The most I can do now is generate a small static field that could at most, paralyze a rat. If those even exist in this world.
SLAM
My father rushed into the house, slamming the door behind him. "We need to alert Lord Koran, there are Rogue magicians heading towards town, there are at least 30 of them. Mostly mages, but there were a few sorcerers and I think I saw a healer." There was sweat running down his face, dirt was clinging to him like a long lost lover.
Mages? Sorcerers? Healers? Seems this world has a lot to offer.
"Tyrl, get your bow. I want you at the door in the shadows. If anyone comes in that isn't me or Koran; wait until they're inside the threshold, then kill them. Im going to round up the men, we should have enough magicians here to hold them off until help arrives. There'll be about 10 minutes until they arrive, make good use of it."
My mother instantly set me down on the ground and sat down beside me. She pulled out a large necklace with a green gem inside of it. She set it down in front of her, placed her finger on it, then sat back and waited. After 20 seconds, the gem lit up. Light and smoke started seeping out of it, forming the face of the old doc who helped birth me.
"What can I do for you today Jesamine?" The old man's face had a look of sincerety painted across it.
"Uncle Koran, Jarod has just sighted a large group of rogue magicians heading towards the village and we're needing assistance. We lost too many in the last attack to put up proper defense. If the attack lasts into the night, we wont have anyone left." My mother's voice was shaking, and she couldn't keep her hands still. She was constantly fidgeting with her dress, even as she stopped speaking.
"Well then, it seems they are rather brave. I will send down a few men. I want you to have everyone stay inside, and have the men activate the seals that I placed after the last attack. The Formation specialist said his siege protection formation will hold up against a 100 strong army, a couple of off brand magicians wont do much."
