"Guys, take a seat." Rhys said. "What's the case today, sir?" Asked Matter. "Higgins, if you please." Rhys said as he motioned for him to come up to the board. "The Hero Society has been hunting down a guy named Patrick Warb aka The Great Wizard. He has been known to hypnotize people and cause lots of damage." Explained Higgins. "So we need to figure out how this guy operates and apprehend him before he can do any more damage, right?" Said Roswell. "Bingo." Higgins said. "Well, enough screwing around here. Let's move." Slinky said as he stood up.
"Higgins, let's check out the last crime scene." Slinky suggested. "Alright. We can take my van." Said Higgins. "Uh, a van? That's kinda lame." Slinky said. "Hm." Higgins shrugged off. They walked into the car garage and Slinky nearly died when he saw the van. "Wooaahhh! You mean you got this sweet ride?! I thought this model was only for those guys in HBI!" Slinky said in awe. "Enough fan girling and get in." Higgins said. "Ahem. Right, let's get moving." Slinky said as he hopped into the passenger side. "Don't leave without us." Matter said as he and Roswell walked into the garage. "We'll need all of us if we encounter our perpetrator." Roswell said as they hopped into the back of the van. "Higgins, floor it!" Slinky said all giddy. The van flew out of the garage and off to the crime scene they went.
"Can I speak to Jeff?" Asked Rhys on the phone. "Sorry Mr. Rhys but Jeff isn't here right now." Said the receptionist. "Oh. Alright. Goodbye." Rhys said. Rhys put down the phone and thought for a moment. Then he opened a small rift and looked through to see Jeff's office. Chairs were turned over and everything was a mess. "Interesting." Rhys said.
"So what's the deal?" Roswell asked an officer. "There was a body found here with severe injuries to his head and massive damage to the frontal lobe. All we have to go off of are some prints but this guy was thorough about covering his tracks." The officer said. While Roswell was talking to the officer, Slinky took a walk around and Matter helped clean up the area. Slinky squatted down and Higgins came up behind him. "What do you got?" Asked Higgins. Slinky picked up a tuft of hair with some tweezers. "Evidence. Let's get forensics to check this out." Slinky said. They gave the evidence away and then regrouped with the others. "Let's head back and review all the evidence and wait for forensics to give us a result." Said Roswell.
As they all came back, Rhys was waiting for them. "We may have another situation. Director Jeff's office shows signs of a struggle and he is nowhere to be found." Rhys explained. "C'mon chicken man. Let's go take a look." Higgins said to Matter. Roswell looked at Slinky and he just shrugged as they watched them both leave through a rift that Rhys made. *What did you find at the scene?" Rhys asked. "We found some hair and sent it to forensics." Roswell said. "We're just awaiting the results and that should tell us our next lead." Slinky continued. "Good. Keep me updated." Rhys said as he went back to his office. "Any theories?" Asked Slinky. "Not yet. We need more information." Roswell said. "Well, do you want a coffee while we wait?" Slinky asked. "Sure. Make sure to put in two sugars." Roswell said. As Slinky went to make coffee his phone rang. "This is Roswell. Uh huh. Understood, thank you." He said. "Hey Slinky. Listen to this. Apparently the sample we sent is actually from Jeff." Roswell explained. "Hm. Why would he be there? Could he have been scouting the crime scene? But that's what we are tasked to do. It doesn't add up." Slinky thought out loud. "Let's keep brainstorming." Roswell said.
Meanwhile, Higgins walked around Jeff's office. "What a mess! I'm not even this bad." Matter said. "It's not surprising that someone would attack the director but I never thought they would succeed. Whoever this was must've been strong." Said Higgins. Just as he finished talking, an old man appeared from a cloud of purple. "Oho. You fools should not have come here." The old man said. "You're the Great Wizard aren't you?" Said Higgins. "My, my. And who are you? Mr. Smarty-pants?!" The old man scoffed. After hearing that remark, Matter jump-kicked the Wizard in the face and knocked him out cold. "Nice work, chicken man." Higgins said to him. "We're bros now and bros help each other." Matter said. "Let's get this guy in some cuffs and back to HQ." Higgins said.
"Hey. It looks like you guys had more fun than anticipated." Slinky said as he watched Matter and Higgins drag the Wizard off to a holding cell. "I kicked him in the face!" Matter exclaimed. "That sounds right. Anyway, we got a call from forensics." Slinky said. "Who's hair was it?" Asked Higgins. "Director Jeff's hair. We can't figure out why his hair would be at the scene of the crime." Explained Slinky. Suddenly, Rhys burst in the room and flipped on the tv. "You're seeing a live look at a cloaked villain terrorizing civilians at the build site downtown. Who will come to rescue?" The news reporter said. Rhys opened a rift and said "Move quickly, gentlemen." The four of them went through and found themselves on the street several yards away from the villain. "Allow me." Slinky said as he stretched his arms and extended them over to the villain. He hoisted him high in the air and thrust him at the ground. The villain laid flat for a few seconds before peeling himself off the ground. "Step aside ladies." Matter said. He walked over to the dazed villain and said "What is always in front of you but can never be seen?" Before the villain could react, Matter threw a punch and knocked him back to the ground saying "My fist!" "Heh. Not bad." Roswell said. "What? He said a joke that was actually funny?!" Slinky said. "The chicken man is full of surprises today." Higgins said. They all walked over to the villain and Roswell yanked off the cloak. "What?!" Slinky said. "Uh. What's going on?" Said the villain. "It can't be." Matter said. "Mr. Jeff, what is going on here?" Higgins asked. "I was gonna say that. What's up with this weird cloak? And why am I in the middle of the street laying on the ground? And how come I don't have my tea?!" Jeff asked. "Aha! Gentlemen, I believe I know what's going on here. Let's all head back to HQ." Slinky said.
Once they got back, they all sat down and Slinky stood before them. "Is it story time?" Asked Matter. "Yes, yes it is. You see, our original mission was to locate and capture the Great Wizard. However, Higgins, did you not find it strange that, instead of destroying stuff or fighting, the Wizard instead came to Jeff's office to snoop around?" Slinky said. "Yes, it was quite strange." Higgins replied. "Who can remind me of the Great Wizard's powers?" Slinky asked. "He has the ability to hypnotize others." Roswell chimed in. "Exactly. The Great Wizard wanted something valuable from Jeff but needed to take him out of the picture to get access to it. He hypnotized Jeff to act like a villain and then when he was gone, sneak into his office and take what he wanted. Unfortunately, timing was not on his side. Matter and Higgins were already there when he showed up and got caught in the act. Jeff is just an innocent victim who was unaware of his actions until Matter literally knocked some sense into him." Slinky explained. "Well done." Rhys said coming into the conversation. "Jeff, you're free to go." He said opening a rift back to his office. "Sweet! Catch ya guys later." Said Jeff as he leapt through. "Another case closed." Roswell said. "Let's all get some drinks." Higgins said.
They all left and went to the bar to get some drinks. Later, the phone on Rhys' desk rang. "Hello? Yes. I see. We will take care of it." Rhys said before hanging up. "Well, it seems we've got another case."
