I awoke with my phone ringing. The caller ID informs me it’s Dustin. Peeking at the time I realize school has ended.
“Hello?”
“Hey, where are you, you did not go home right?”
“No, after lunch I fell asleep on the roof, guess I slept for the rest of the day.”
“I'm coming up there.”
“It’s fine ill come do-”
He hung up the phone before I could continue. I sighed before standing up waiting for him to make his way up here. He looked kind of scared when he arrived to the roof.
“What happened to you? Did you see a ghost?”
“Not funny, I thought you went back.”
We have to stop by my house anyways to grab stuff.”
“Shit, I forgot about that.”
“Well, I need some stuff.”
“River just use my stuff, just for a bit and we will get your stuff when we know they are not home.”
“Are you sure, I really don’t want to burden you anymore then I'll already be.”
“You are fine, just come on.
We slowly made our way back out to his car. I walked to behind him feeling anxious. What will his parents say? What if my parents call the police on them? If I M Borrowing his stuff, does that also mean his clothes? I blush at this thought causing Dustin to look over at me and chuckle.
“What is making you so red?”
“Nothing.” I squeaked out.
The rest of the ride to Dustin's was quiet. As we passed my house, I saw both my parents on the porch. I flinched bit, but Dustin remined me that I'm fine. It's not like they can chase a car.
We arrived at Dustin’s house about 15minutes later after stopping for gas. His parents were already home. My heart was racing knowing that we need to speak to them about what's going on. I felt lightheaded as we made our way to the front door.
“Hey are you okay? You look like you are going to pass out?”
“Are you sure I should do this, maybe I should just go back now.”’
“Come on River, your fine breathe. I’ll talk to my parents. If you get to overwhelmed just go into my room or the bathroom.”
“okay, I, uh think I'm ready to go in.”
“Okay.”
