The end of the day rolls around quickly. As I make my way out the school building, I see Dustin standing by his car. I stop walking. As I am staring at him, he notices me and waves me over. I blush a little. He caught me staring at him! Does he not find it weird? As I make my way towards Dustin, I feel kids staring and whispering at me. Keeping my head low I made my way to him.
“Hey, why did you call me over? You know I have to get on time.”
“I was thinking I could bring you home.” I look at him wide eyed.
“Are you nuts! You were just told how they hate that I'm gay and wait for me at home. The topping on the cake would be if I bring a boy home with me.”
“It’s not like we are dating though. If they give you any trouble you could always come to my place.”
“I really don’t think they will care if we are dating or not. It will only cause me more trouble. I really need to get going before I miss my time frame to get home.”
“Please let me drop you off. Like the corner before your house. This way you will still get home in time.”
“Fine, now let's please hurry.”
If I said no, I might have been home late. Just as promised, he dropped me off one corner away but also gave me his phone number and house address.
As I make my way up the house, I see both cars home. I freeze. I mean it’s not too late to turn back now, right? No, if I do that, they might call the police for missing child, or only make it worse when I do return. Holding my breath, I enter the house to find them both sitting in the living room. My father was reading the newspaper, while my mom was reading some novel. I quickly try to make my way upstairs to my room. Though it was clear they wanted to “talk”.
“Get in here, now.” My mother calls after me. I slowly turn around and make my way into the room. I shakingly stand there as they just stare at me.
“You were not in the bathroom this morning.” My mom still not looking at me says.
“Sorry.”
“Where did you go, you were nowhere in the house.”
“I said I'm sorry.” I peeped out of me.
“That does not answer my question.”
I can tell she is trying to stay calm. We have gotten noise complaints before. If the police show up it will be bad for them. I have tried before making them so mad. This way the police can help me. They always seem to know when I’m trying to provoke them though. It has never worked.
“Are you going to answer me?”
“I said I am sorry; I won't do it again I promise. I'll be here from now on.”
She got up and began walking towards me.
“Give me your bag.”
“Why?”
If I give her my bag, she will find Dustin’s number and address.
“I said to give me your bag.”
“No.”
she looks stunned by my words. I also quickly realize what I just said. She turned and headed for the kitchen.
“Wait I'm sorry! I’m sorry have my bag. I won't leave again!”
She grabs something from the drawer then heads towards me. Next thing I know everything went black.
