Just like Dustin, his friends were not ones speak to me. Though this did not mean I was fond them. I kept peering over to see what was happening. The all grabbed chairs and pulled them around Dustin. There was Elliot, Greyson, and Fern.
Elliot was nothing like the other, or should I say the most responsible. While Greyson was the sporty kid of the group. He plays basketball, tennis, baseball, and volleyball. Then last is Fern. She is usually misjudged. She looks all rough and all, but she is a total nerd. Always reading or watching anime. I always found them to be an odd bunch.
“What are you guys up to after school? I must go and watch my siblings.” Elliot asked the group.
“The usual, I have sports again.” Greyson replied.
“Well maybe you should stop signing up for every sport. Personally, I am going to the library after school to return books.” Fern responds.
They begin arguing who is using the time more productively. Dustin begins laughing at his friend's dumb argument. Not realizing I let out a small smirk. Fern notices me smirking and asked what I thought. The other became quiet. I felt a sense of panic come over me. They were all looking at me waiting to respond. Instead of looking at them, I look down.
“They all sound, um different so I don’t really know.” I say quietly.
They all sit there silently, realizing besides Dustin I don’t think anyone has really heard me talk. Dustin nudges me,
“He's not wrong, you guys are all so different.” He adds in.
“True, but I still think I'm using my time most productive.” Greyson intrudes.
They all laugh together. I could not help but feel a little jealous. I only remember being left out and picked on, seeing them all together reminded me how much I missed friends. The bell rang for class to start and they all begin putting the chairs back before going to their seats.
