I don’t really know how far the walk was, but it did not seem long at all. On the way there neither of us talked, it was just silent. Dustin was walking ahead of me, I don’t know his face looked like or, could even tell what he was thinking. We arrived at a house in a nearby Neiborhood. It was two stories high and from what I could tell a light blue color with a black roof. As we walked up to the door, I could see lights on and movement coming from the house. I stop walking starting to feel a little distressed.
“Are you okay? Oh, if its cause my parents are up its ok, they are nice. They are usually up this early.” He tells me. As he turned to look at me, he is still smiling. His smile is so bright, it makes me all warm.
“No, I just never have been to someone else's house in years, so I'm a little nervous.” I say a little bit shyly.
“Come on let's go in, it's getting cold.” He opens the door and greets his parents so lovingly. They also make their way towards us with their own bright smiles. Everything seems so bright and happy the opposite of what I'm used to.
“Mom, Dad, I'm back!” Dustin announces.
“Oh, and who might this be?” Mrs. White asks me. Still feeling a little scared and not wanting to panic I look at his mom then him, trying to tell him in uncomfortable.
“This is River Anderson; he is a classmate of mine.” Thankfully Dustin got the hint.
“'It’s very nice to meet you.” Mr. White tells me.
It was quiet around us for a moment.
"I'll show River to my room, then I will come down to talk to you.” Dustin tells his parents before signaling me to follow him.
I follow him up the stairs to the door on the left. His room was bigger than mine, it had a bed in the middle surrounded by posters and shelves. It seemed so lively just like the rest of the house, from what I could see.
“I just have to talk with my parents quick then I'll be back, you can make yourself comfortable.”
As he leaves the room, I hear him walk downstairs. After I know it's safe, I make my way to the stairs and go down just enough so I can hear them talking.
“So, mind telling us how you left by yourself by arrive back with a companion.” I can hear his mom ask him.
“While I was walking in the park, he was sitting alone reading a book, and I know that he does not live around here.” Dustin tells his mom.
How he knows I don’t live here is one thing I don't understand.
“You know I'm not mad but maybe a heads-up next time will be little better.” his mom tells him.
“I know mom, I'm sorry I did not text you about it, but it is not as simple as it seems just trust me.”
As I now their conversation will end so I make my way back into his room, a little confused by what he means. How is it not as simple as it seems, he found me in the park that’s all he needs to know. Dustin walks into the room so I turn and look at him.
“You seem spooked are you sure you are ok?” He is not smiling anymore, this time it’s just a confused look. I kind of miss his smile.
“I'm fine just tired.” I tell him so he won’t ask more questions.
“You can use my bed I'm not tired so I'll just go down and hangout with my parents, so you can sleep.” He says before leaving the room.
I walk over to his bed, before laying down to close my eyes. As I am laying there it realized it smells like him- wait what am I thinking that’s creepy! It was probably another 20 minutes before I was back asleep in an unfamiliar area.
