Dear Ms. Renaldi,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am sincerely sorry about my poor performance on your exam over Homer's The Odyssey. I do not expect the grade to be changed, but I do hope you can find it within yourself to forgive me for failing to properly prepare for the test.
I understand that there is no excuse for my behavior, but, well, I never had the chance to study due to unforeseeable circumstances. I know, I know. Spring Break seems like an entire week of free study time, and I thought so too, but, well, you see, well, um...
Actually, I am not entirely sure how to begin this tale/adventure/story-that-will-probably-get-me-institutionalized. However, if you would humor me, I would like to explain how I, your former favorite student of the second period Pre-AP Sophomore English class, failed your english exam.
Sincerely,
Gwyndolyn Dare
