Dear 'Descendant' comic readers: My editor and I have decided to relaunch. Now that she is more available, we should be able to get a better, more cohesive story together for you all to enjoy. Having said that. The novel AND the comic will be taken down in the coming weeks. While we work on a backlog, we encourage you to please follow our social media: @linybeany and @djwaglmuffin on Twitter. I will be posting various sketches and whatnot, as well as making a Patreon and separate Twitter account for the comic. This is a huge project and I hope you enjoy the changes.
PS: The only thing lacking in this comic thus far is solid backgrounds. I am working as diligently as my mental health conditions will allow but it's been a struggle. Hopefully, though, the characters and story will maybe inspire some investment or something down the line. Thank you all for your patience and I hope to see you all during the relaunch!
That's a good question. In scope of this story's length, about how far are you into it? If you were closer to the beginning than the end, I would read a complete relaunch.
But if that's too time consuming, then so long as subscribers are notified pages have updated, I personally would read as you update pages. But that's just my take :3
The consensus so far seems to be 50/50...I think I'll press forward and try to update as I can. I just want to switch to color as well so ...I mean...would that bother you? Most of it being b/w right now but then switch to color mid way?
While I am working on my comic, I am going to update the novel to reflect the new ideas I had. These are way more cohesive and work better. I don't think a lot of it changes but some bigger details do. Thanks for your patience and once I move and everything settles down (I hope), I'll be working on my comic again.
Dear everyone: I would like to apologize again for the lack of...everything. I have decided it's best not to force myself into being creative or thinking too hard about things because it's starting to physically hurt and my art was always something I could look too for relief, not pain. That's not to say I'm not doing anything at all, though. Since the visuals and the overarching theme of Descendant has changed, I find myself diving and studying horror tropes I never would have considered until now and some of this is actually very complicated. Especially anything dealing with cosmic entities: it can be very difficult to describe in words as well as make it compelling for an audience. The fun thing about the cosmic horror, however, is that "i don't know" is an acceptable answer to a strange situation a character may face.
As well as story issues, I find myself struggling to find a style I like to finish my pages: do I want to color, grayscale painting, toning? I've always intended the first part of Descendant to look like tin-type photography as it's set in the 1800's but I still have to finish it before I can apply those textures. Seems a lot of webtoons are colored but I know we don't necessarily have to comply with that.
Anyway, I really hope to have something for you soon. Thank you for your patience and...I'd tell you to follow me on twitter but...politics. :/
Dear Descendant readers: I will be going through the novel and changing A LOT. I was hit with some better, more coherent ideas and I gotta change it. This will be the final change, though and I hope to get it illustrated in the comic version.
I'm also still in a weird slump from all the stress and lack of sleep...plus all these weird schedules and kids and...ugh. Thank you for your patience.
