Hey, man! I am extremely, supremely, superbly proud of you.
But you already know that! Congrats on being the first to reach one of your many finish lines wahaha! Here's to your next adventure, and all the rest going forward. Fuckin' superb you funky little lamp comic!
So, news: Lamp Comic is going to be ending soon. (Don't worry! Yesterday's strip was not the finale)
I've never finished a comic of significant length before, much less a mostly-non sequitor strip. With a comic like this, there's no set conclusion, so I wasn't really sure how to go about crafting an end to a story started as just a handful of disjointed punchlines. It's grown into a story on its own, and this feels like the right time to pull the threads together and do my best to make a satisfying ending.
When I started this comic over half a year ago, I had no idea if Lamp Comic was something other people would enjoy. But despite that I posted the first strips on reddit, imgur, and here on Tapas. For all of you total strangers to share my strange sense of humor, and to let me know that my comic could make your day a little lighter, meant so much to me.
Lamp Comic is the first time I've had over 40, much less nearly two thousand, people reading something I made. Lamp Comic is the first time people have given me money for comics I've drawn before, taking the time to earn Ink just to show their appreciation. Lamp Comic is the first time I've been sad at the thought of finishing something before, not because of the comic itself but because of of how much having you readers means to me.
Every Thursday I get to open Tapas and see your likes and comments, and thanks to you Thursday's become my favorite day of the week. I have other comics I'm working on right now, and I hope to be drawing other comics for years to come, but I know I'll never make another comic quite like this one.
When I first told anyone this idea of a slice-of-life comic about an inanimate object, a friend told me 'this is pretty funny, you might've come up with something special here'. I still don't know if that's true. But you've all made 'Lamp Comic', and posting it here online, something special to me. So thank you.
Thank you for sharing! The weird gags and subtle humor of Lamp Comic always brightens my day, which is something I didn't expect when I saw it in my recommendations and said, "What could that possibly be...? Guess it doesn't hurt to find out." I'm so glad I did! Congratulations on the success, and I hope it inspires you to follow up with even better (and weirder!) art. <3
I'm both weirdly happy and sad for the end? Happy because I'll hopefully finally have some questions answered, and sad because I love this series so much! ;-; Thank you for taking the time to create this story and I'll be sure to support your other comics to come!!
Hey readers, I’m running an ink drive! Whenever we reach the goal, I’ll update an extra strip for that week.
(Special thanks to Twinvizions, who managed to get First Ink before I even made this post)
