For our Austin, TX locals, the team will be at Kinokuniya's grand opening event August 18th (Saturday)! We will be selling physical copies of issue 1, along with other swag. We will also be doing a short presentation/Q&A on our process - we'd love to see you there!
If you recall a few posts ago, I mentioned that we were left somewhat unsatisfied with part of Chapter 1 - for that reason, we've inserted 7 additional pages in the middle of the chapter (the end of the blue pages! Page 13). Its our first official comic, so there are a few bumps we're driving through..but we're much happier with the pacing now with the new additional pages!
Thank you for bearing with us. Chapter 1 is officially over!
With chapter 2, we will also be utilizing the per-page chapters that many other Tapas comics seem to use after a few suggestions - hopefully this will make it much easier to read through now!
Have a great evening, friends! Until next update ..
Enjoy this morsel - which is technically the end of chapter 1! HOWEVER... we were a little unsatisfied with how chapter 1 played out, so there are a good chunk of pages I am doing the backgrounds for right now that will be added into the fencing scene - sorry about that! But it should read MUCH better with the addition.
I think you all will enjoy it too! Bear with us while we figure out this comic thing. It should be smooth sailing from here now that we've figured out how to approach this - and hey, you'll get to see more Capulet and Shylock interaction! (With a dash of Bubo, too!)
I considered adding the flat-colored and inked addendum pages now, and updating the background painting as I get it done since it is a good chunk. ALL the new pages are inked and flat-colored already, its just the part that takes longest is the environment. What do you guys think? Should I just go ahead and upload them and update them as I finish, while working on Chapter 2? Or do you think its better to completely finish them all before updating with the big chunk? I'd love to hear thoughts!
As usual, thank you so much for your time and sticking with us.
I find that it's better to upload it in one big chunk, if you don't want to break the chapter up into multiple posts. Sometimes when I receive notifications for updates, it's hard for me to remember what there before and what was added.
I kind of agree. I can only speak for myself when I say that i usually use the app since I don't always have time to go on the computer. Because of this, I tend to lose a lot of updates until months later. However, this is only my preference. You are free to choose however you update. (PS:
I think you would gather a bigger audience if you updated one complete pg at a time on a set schedule. The way Tapas works favors this type of updating system rather than updating with multiple pages at once, and then having a long hiatus period.
But that's just from what I've observed, and I love your comic no matter how you update it. Best of Luck. :)
And we're back! With a small update, but now our schedule should be a little more regular. All of chapter 1 has been inked and flat colored - so expect more activity!
We will also be adding a few extra pages in the middle, so keep an eye on that. We were reluctant to do so, but after some discussion with KP and FS, we felt it best to add in these few extra pages so that not only will it read better, but we'll get some more fun character interaction before moving on. Just means a beefier chapter 1!
Anyway, we hope you all had a wonderful holiday - stay warm out there, enjoy some cocoa, and huddle up near a fire!
Howdy everyone! December is the birthday month of our lovely artists, Stephanie and Kiwi. Here's an old birthday comic we did to celebrate! Happy belated birthday to them both!
As for the comic, we're plugging away. End of the year is busy for all of us but we're still working on updates. Happy holidays and new year, everyone!

Happy Friday guys! Here's a preview of what we've been working on, and a glimpse into our process. There's more concept work like this in our book, so grab while you can! Only 8 left! ♥ https://www.etsy.com/shop/teamsalty ♥
Hello everyone! As we near the end of the year, our crew gets incredibly busy with work and family visits, so we've taken some time to gather ourselves after many life events and weathering two hurricanes (one for ourselves here in Texas and one in spirit for our family and friends in Florida)- thank you for your patience and understanding! The support here has been incredible.
Some of y'all were asking about the Prince of Spades Issue 0, and we've got a few to spare that are up on our Etsy- 10 to be exact! There's even a couple button packs left with some of the characters! Be sure to check out some of the other cool books we have for sale as well.
