I just realized, thanks to a helpful comment, that a couple of panels in episode 2 were out of order, so if this is something that confused or bugged you, it is now fixed!
Also, a big thank you to everyone who stuck around through my re-formatting; Tuesday marked the first release of completely unseen pages, and I am very happy to be back to moving the story forward. There have been some edits in the reformat process, but nothing earth-shattering. Now, however, new pages are showing genuinely new story beats, and I couldn't be happier.
Act 2 of this story, The Painted Wolves, is drawing near to it's conclusion. Echo is desperate to solve the mystery of her inheritance, and Hiro and Sati are doing their best to navigate the strangeness surrounding them. Things are coming to a head very quickly now, and our friends are going to discover that their difficulties are really just beginning. Can't wait to conclude this arc with you all, and I hope you are starting to feel the excitement. See you in February!
In the meantime, here is a random drawing of Princess Leia with baby Kylo Ren! :
Just a quick note that, while we are still "catching up" to where the story was before re-formatting, next Tuesday's update will contain a NEW SCENE that wasn't there before. AND, we'll get a tiny peek at a mysterious and villainous new character! So be sure to tune in; it's a weird and creepy little scene and I'm very excited to share it with you all. And in the meantime, here is a random kung fu monkey I drew. :P
So, some of you may remember a promise on my part to reformat all of the older episodes for mobile, like the newer episodes that I’ve been uploading. My plan had been to go backwards from the most recent episodes, and reformat as I got time. And if you’ve been paying attention, you’ve probably noticed that progress has stalled.
However, I’ve decided to kill two birds (not real birds, I’m a Buddhist) with one stone, and submit a re-cut Adventures of Echo Callaway to the Webtoons Contest. Not only is this a (slim) chance to get a funding source for this tale, but it’s the perfect excuse for me to go ahead and get the re-formatting done once and for all.
I’ve been working on this for the last few days, and it’s solving a second issue for me as well: the early part of this story really needs some editing, and I’m far enough removed from the work that I’m able to do it. So when I say “re-cut”, I mean that literally: I’ve been tweaking dialogue, re-arranging images, and in general streamlining and condensing the storytelling.
No big changes, I promise: this is housekeeping, and Greedo is not going to end up shooting first. That said, I would love the support of my Tapas friends, if any of you are also active on line Webtoon. The new series is titled Echo Callaway and the Book of Circles (for clarity), and if you could go here and like, subscribe, rate and comment, that would be most awesome of you: https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/echo-callaway-and-the-book-of-circles/list?title_no=208062
Eventually, I will catch up with the current episodes, at which point I will replace the old ones here with the re-cut versions. As always, those of you who prefer page format can always go over to echocallaway.tumblr.com and see them all in glorious old-school pages. And in the meantime, weekly updates will continue uninterrupted, so no worries on that front. Hope all is well with all of you,
Finally starting to rebuild that buffer, and it's feeling good to be working on Echo every day. If all goes according to plan, I might even do some bi-weekly updates at the end of the summer. Be well, everybody.
Cranking out some finishing touches on tomorrows update, and also found time to register Echo on TopWebComics. If you are so inclined, head on over and give her a vote:
http://topwebcomics.com/vote/25220
If you are feeling super-generous, they allow one vote per day, and it's really good advertising to help keep this project afloat. :)
Meanwhile, here's Thing 2 at the Ren Faire wearing a snake, just cause it's awesome.
Echo got a wonderfully kind and thorough review in this month's StArt Faire; WOO_HOO! Super excited to share; just click the link and flip to pg. 212 (it's a flash magazine).
