Hey everyone, its been a long time since I last gave an update!
I've been working on Redux for about 5 years now, and have been on Hiatus for nearly 2 years. It's crazy how time flies.
These last two years have had a lot of ups and downs, and I've put a lot of work into the comic.
I'm not proud of how long this has taken, but these things are rarely smooth, and I'm a hobbyist with limited time and resources.
So over the last two years I:
-finished an initial sketched draft to the end of the comic
-got perfectionistic, felt unhappy with the story overall, and started second guessing myself
-attempted to make "minor" edits to the existing pages and add new pages to fill in plot holes and flaws I found while rereading and editing the sketched draft
-got frustrated and overwhelmed with life problems and creative problems, and had to take several long breaks
-got very close to rebooting it a few times (there are several outlines and drafts of different versions of the comic now filling up notebooks and files on my laptop.)
-inevitably got burned out constantly trying and failing to make it perfect
-wound up in the hospital twice, for reasons unrelated to the comic
I've been determined to finish this arc, however, and came to the decision that it would be best for me and the project to put aside my perfectionism and do exactly that.
I'm ready to move onto something new, but want to make sure to bring this story to a close first.
I've begun the process of cleaning up the rough sketched draft I completed last year, and will be scheduling those pages to begin going out weekly, starting on Dec. 25th.
(Assuming nothing catastrophic happens between now and then.)
The pages will not be completely lined and colored, however. Consider these like a storyboard or animatic as opposed to a finished product.
(Example attached.)
There will be about 35-36 more pages to the end. 4 are already complete, and the work is going fast. The goal is to have them done by the end of the year. Even if I don't quite reach the goal, the queue by the time they're posting should be more than enough to ensure that I never go on hiatus again until its done.
I'm not completely happy with this version of the story, but I'll be happy to have it completed and share it with you. I've learned a lot about making comics, managing a long-term creative project, storytelling, and what sorts of things I want to actually write and talk about in the future. I'll be in a much better place to begin the next arc once I'm ready to embark upon that. (Things are already getting planned, and, with any luck, will be much smoother and I'll be more prepared.)
This last leg of the story isn't what I've wanted it to be, but I'm determined to bring it to a close and do it as much justice as I can.
I'm looking forward to exploring new ideas, new characters, and new settings and themes with this next chapter of the work. With any luck, I should be able to share some of that with you next year!
Thank you so much for sticking with me over these last few years. I appreciate your patience, your support, and your interest in these characters and this world I've created. There have been times I wanted to throw everything out and give up, but getting those occasional bits of fanwork, comments from new readers, or small reminders that people still care has gone a very long way toward keeping me motivated.
It really means more than I can ever put to words.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL! Happy Holidays, and thank you for supporting Legacy Of A Fighter! :^) Sorry for the late letter, it uh... got lost... in shipment? (ノ*ФωФ)ノ
Here is Ki'nar looking granular! I had a lot of fun drawing him, and I'm happy with how the texture turned out.
(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ Although if you look really closely, he does kind of look like a Christmas tree... (DON'T TELL HIM I SAID THAT THOUGH)
Thank you so much for making my first Inksgiving amazing, Slope! (hehe) ❤️🥰❤️
You donated enough ink that you get to suggest a word I'll use for my RAP song, and you also get a sketch of a character/OC of your choosing! Please post a reference of the character you'd like onto my profile wall~🫡
