Chapter 1. A nostalgic yesterday
"Uh...?" the boy muttered as he slowly opened his eyes.
"I told you there's nothing to eat so shut up already!" exclaimed a redheaded boy with crimson red eyes and light tan skin, his hair reached a little above his shoulders. Masaru took a few seconds to react but soon looked towards the room's door, he then noticed he was currently in the bedroom he shared with his siblings.
“That was a dream...?" Masaru asked to himself while still half asleep. That is, until the bedroom door opened revealing a blond haired boy, cobalt blue eyes and white skin, who ran to the bed and threw himself across to be close to him.
"Masaru! I'm hungry!” the blond stated suddenly. Masaru remained silent as he stared at his blue-eyed brother. Likewise, the latter stared into his apple green eyes saying no more.
"Huh...?” the black haired uttered as he realized what was going on. “There’s nothing to eat in the kitchen?"
"There's only instant soup, energy bars and canned food, I want something else but Daiki won't cooperate."
"It's not like I can magically make food appear, idiot" Daiki said as he looked at the situation from the door frame.
Hearing his brother's voice. Masaru looked in his direction, watching as another one of his brothers entered the room after lightly tapping Daiki on the head.
"Daiki, don't be so grumpy" said the boy identical to Daiki, with the difference being his long hair, which reached his lower back. He was carrying his little brown-haired puppy in his arms, which had a cute punkish fringe somehow resembling his owner's.
"It's Mitsuru's fault for being annoying so early in the morning, he should just eat what's there."
"Even you don't want to eat what's there..." said his brother as he then pulled the little dog closer to him. "But look, don't you see Hachi wants you to relax?" he asked as the puppy licked Daiki's cheek a couple of times.
Daiki smiled for a moment before blushing and frowning again.
"Daitaro, stop, I get it... Although it doesn't take away from the fact that Mitsuru is being a moron," Daiki said as he gestured for him to move the puppy away.
"Maybe... But he’s right that it's kind of boring just eating the same thing over and over" Daitaro stated as he moved closer to the bed and looked at Masaru. "Good morning, how did you sleep? We decided to let you sleep since you seemed to need it."
"Well..."
"We decided? You practically insisted on not bothering him, so only you decided that" said Mitsuru, who was now curled up in the blankets.
"Haha, well, you listened to me so in theory you agreed too" said Daitaro as he then noticed his black-haired brother's blank stare.
Noticing his gaze, Masaru felt a bit nervous before looking at Daiki, whom he watched carefully. Daiki arched an eyebrow at this.
"What's wrong with you, why are you looking at me like that?" the redhead asked before looking at him in annoyance. "Are you hungry? Do I look like a steak to you as well? Because I can put you in your place in two seconds!"
At the prolonged silence, Daiki's gaze relaxed. His will to fight had died at his brother's deadpan expression.
"Hey, stop looking at me with that dumb expression"
"Daiki, uh... well... how to say this…”
“Why are you blushing?…"
“You, uhm… Have you…” Masaru didn't know how to ask without making his brother suspicious of his behavior, not to mention that he found it somewhat embarrassing. “Have you screamed or anything like that lately...?"
"Huh? Yeah, I've been yelling at Mitsuru for a while now, why?" Daiki asked, not understanding the question. Masaru didn't look satisfied with the answer, he would have to try again.
"No, ehm, I was wondering if… Have you been hit, kicked or something...?" the green eyed boy asked. Again, Daiki was still ignoring the intention of the question.
"Well yes, the idiot apparently saw me as a strip of bacon before and was biting me, if that's what you mean. But he stopped biting after I smacked him."
"Correction, Daitaro hit me to stop me from biting you and that's the only reason I let you go" Mitsuru said as he stuck his tongue out at Daiki. Daiki looked at him not very happy about the remark.
Daitaro just smiled sweetly without saying anything at the exchange.
"Ah... no, not exactly Mitsuru..." Mitsuru looked at them without understanding the difficulty of the question, was it really that complicated? Even as hungry as he was he didn’t find any difficulty knowing what was going on.
"Masaru is trying to ask you if you're okay" Mitsuru said not wanting the meaningless exchange to continue. Masaru fell silent along with Daiki. The black haired boy looked at Mitsuru angrily, he didn't want to say it like that, he didn't want Daiki to start overthinking the situation...
"What...?" Daiki was still at a loss. "Why would he ask that? Mitsuru, don't be stupid, Masaru doesn't make those kind of questions."
"Right..." Mitsuru rolled his eyes before deciding not to intervene anymore.
“Let him be, my twin is kind of slow at these things, haha" Daitaro said as he looked somewhat sympathetically at Daiki, who gave him an expression denoting annoyance.
"Well, ignoring these two, just tell me what you want to ask me already. Get to the point."
"Uh..." Masaru looked away, showing a twitch on his eye, he didn't know what to say. "I'm trying to ask if... Have you felt like screaming or...?"
"Masaru, stop it" Daiki said not wanting to believe what was happening, Mitsuru's suggestion crossed his mind and seemed strangely believable "Are you trying to tell me that Mitsuru was right?"
"Ah..." the green eyed boy mumbled not knowing how to defend himself. Daiki really didn't seem to understand his brother's reason for asking that. Mitsuru stuck out his tongue at the redhead, who looked away annoyed.
"Are you trying to ask if I'm okay…?"
"Maybe...?" said Masaru as he then frowned and pouted. "But it seems I just wasted my time asking, it's obvious you're fine."
"Why would you ask that when you just woke up?" Daiki asked as he arched an eyebrow.
"It's nothing, I don't know what’s gotten into me..."
"Masaru, just say it already” Daiki insisted. Masaru was silent before sighing and resigning himself.
"I had a nightmare..."
"So?" looking at the red-haired's impatient expression, Masaru pouted at him and looked away.
"Just forget it, maybe it was Ra-Daitaro in my nightmare instead of you" at the comment, Daiki was startled. He looked slightly indignant. Masaru on the other hand, was worried for having a slight slip of the tongue there, though for the looks of it, Daiki didn't notice. He would need to be more careful.
"What...? how could you confuse us?" Disregarding the weird question from before, Daiki focused on what he deemed more important at the moment.
Masaru and Mitsuru gave Daiki a disbelieving look after looking at Daitaro for a few moments.
"Hey, we're not that alike!" Daiki firmly stated as he stood next to Daitaro, who was smiling at him unaffected by the conversation; however, Daiki clearly couldn't accept them saying that.
“You’re identical twins and you think you're not that similar..., poor deluded boy," Mitsuru said as he looked at his brother with pity.
“You literally only look different because of how long Daitaro's hair is" Masaru said as he looked at Daitaro "That and because of the spiky bracelets he always wears, but since those not part of his body they don't count."
"..." Without any arguments left, Daiki looked at them as if cursing them both in his mind. Daitaro laughed for a few seconds before holding his brother's shoulder in an attempt to cheer him up.
"Daiki, don't worry, you will always be unique and special to me" Daitaro said sweetly. The other two, after hearing him and seeing Daiki blush, burst out laughing in unison.
"It's too early in the morning for you to be coming up with your cheesy stuff" Daiki replied as he looked away.
"But I'm serious, you..."
"Shut up, I told you it's too early for that" Daitaro smiled at hearing that before looking at Masaru.
"Well, while Daiki is trying to get over the embarrassment he's feeling, how about you tell us what you saw in your dream that motivated you to ask about him?"
"Hm? Ah..." The smile faded from his face almost immediately. "I dreamt that Daiki was screaming... I don't remember why, though."
