I hear a tapping on the window. The class is talking since our teacher ran out. I don't want to look outside; I know that I wont like what I see. The tapping gets worse... I take a deep breath & look. It's a person, waving. I wave back but go pale; the person raises up, to reveal that the head has been cut off at the jaw & the arm is cut off at the elbow. I froze as the arm tried to open the window; there was another, darker skinned hand that appeared. It grabbed the head by the hair & created a blood red fire that burned the hand & face. I was looking now at my chocolate colored fiance, who had a agitated look on his face. His dyed black hair is neatly cut, but still messy. He wears the uniform; white button up, with black hoodie, dark blue pants & black gym shoes. The blue tie he wears is loose, like he's been running. His red eyes pierce me as I blush & wave, mouthing 'hi Blade'. He smirks, gives a small wave & walks off. "Yo, Lilly. You ok? Did you see something?" I look at my sister; tan skin with bright brown eyes, dark brown hair messy, like a lions mane. She wore our uniform, but instead of the skirt, she wore pants & a sweater that she cut the sleeves off of. "Jonesie. Y-Yeah... I'm fine though." she glanced at Blade, scoffing. "If he didn't mean so much to you, I'd kill him." I chuckled nervously. My sister knows that I can see things, but she doesn't know that Blade can too. "It's ok... he means well." the bell rang & we left. All around us there were strange creatures like what I had seen outside of my window. "Lillan." I glanced up to see John, who everyone just calls Blade. "H-Hello." he glanced at Jonesie. "Hello Jonesie." she sneers at him. "I'm going to practice." she said, giving me a quick hug. "Lillian, don't forget about training tonight." he said once my sister had left. "Ok, I remembered." I said; we started walking home. We were neighbors, which really helped.
"I'm getting better."
"You are."
"I didn't scream! So... improvement!"
"You screamed."
"No I didn't! No one heard me."
"I did."
"Wha-how!?!"
"Here."
He poked my forehead. "My mark. You screamed in your head. Good thing I was changing classes." I turned red, embarrassed. "Lillian. Your house." I stopped & smiled. "You don't have to walk me home every d-" A hand fell out of the tree in the front yard & I yelped. The hand suddenly burst into golden flames. I chuckled as Blade gave me a approving nod. "See you tonight."
It was 11 at night & I was being chased by a man who had turned into one of those creatures. He had cornered me & had me pinned against a wall. He was pale with three sets of arms, solid black eyes, large fangs & a set of horns on his head. "This will be fun... I hope your blood tastes as good as you look." he said, licking my face. I began to cry as his hand slowly began rubbing my thigh; he used his hands to lift me off the ground. All I could do was kick & protest. "Now hush, unless you want an audience." when I saw a shadow move behind the man. He was ripped off of me & I fell to the ground. A man was standing over me, red eyes glowing faintly in the moonlight. I closed my eyes tight when he touched my cheek. He wore a black tank top with a torn purple hoodie & jeans. "You alright? Did he hurt you?" I looked at him, remembering his face & odd colored eyes. "Y-You're John... f-from school... wait, how can y-" "Hey! That's my meal punk ass Devil!" he sighed at the yells coming from the creature. "Excuse me." he turned back around & extended a hand. A blood red flame burst from his hand, taking on the form of a dragon. It swallowed the creature alive; as it screamed, he faced me again. "Y-You can see them?" he nodded. "I can protect you... under one condition." his ears became long & pointed, like an elf & he grew tall, red horns. "Anything." I said, as he helped me up. "My name is John Blade Wittaker. I am a demon. In exchange for your protection you will become my wife. Do you agree?" I nodded. "Yes... I'll do anything." he extended his hand, which was encompassed in a red flame. "Shake my hand." I did & he smiled; he was really handsome. "Great." with a kiss on my forehead, he vanished into the shadows.
That was back in January. It was April now & I found out a lot since then. Those things were known as Devils; mischievous spirits & monsters that like to cause trouble. Blade himself was a Demon, pretty powerful in fact. He later explained that our souls were temporarily connected & Devils would be able to sense that. I convinced him to teach me the spell he used to get rid of that guy. Some Devils are strong enough to take a human form, which is what that guy had used at first. Anyway, we were training & he had cracked a smile. "Good... good... focus on that feeling of confidence." I was surrounded by golden flames & I turned them into Cerberus. It barked loudly & then vanished. I was panting heavily. "Good job... good job." I stood up & he looked up at the sky. "You've got some spectators." I glanced up to see birds surrounding us.
"Are they Devils?"
"Not quite. We call them Gazers."
"Gazers?"
"Yeah. They can sense large areas of power & watch, just to make sure nothing bad is happening."
"What happens if something bad happens?"
"Then they change."
"Change?"
"C'mon. Let's get you home."
He ignored the question as we walked home. A head rolled past us & I stepped out of the way. "Why didn't you burn it?" I shrugged. "It didn't seem hostile." I heard a chuckle. "Smart girl."
