The gloomy rain poured down from the clouded night sky. Crowds of people walked quickly and quietly through the streets, too tired and busy to bother with their surroundings. The only sound was of the wet slap of shoes against stone and the constant dribble of rain. It was a seemingly normal day in the victorian town of Kalvington. In the corner of the town square was a tall man, his eyes fidgeting around nervously at his surrounding. He took a deep breath as he looked at the light green pill in his palm. He was shaking all over, one of the few who was fully aware of what he was doing.
For Annabelle. He thought to himself, before raising an unstable hand to his mouth, swallowing it’s contents.
It only took a few seconds for his body to start convulsing. For his mind to start losing all sense. The crowds barely noticed the broken man until another screeched out in agony. The tall man jerked forward, knocking into a passing woman. He gripped her arms and looked up into her startled face.
“Ew, what on earth do you want?” She cried out, looking at her ruined petticoat. The man only groaned in reply. “Let go, ya freak!” She screeched, trying to pull away.
She screamed as the man’s mouth started foaming. Is skin was pale and his veins were practically popping out. You could see the blood pumping through them. His pupils were large and darting back and forth as more people started crowding around them. A few men stepped forward and tried to tear him away from the lady, all to no avail.
None had been prepared for him to attack. The lady only had time to scream before he pulled the dagger from his back pocket, it found it’s place in her neck with ease. The surrounding crowd screamed and turned away as her body slid to the ground, her blood mixing with the rain.
People were practically tripping over themselves trying to get away. The few brave enough to try and stop him were met with a similar fate to the lady. Soon he was surrounded by bloody bodies. A bright light shone down from above as a blimp flew overhead.
“Stand down!” A voice blasted as people in white suits exited from the large aircraft. They landed with a thump on the wet ground and surrounded the man. He turned in a circle, holding his dagger tightly. Before he could react the men in white darted forward and restrained him while another stuck a needle into his exposed neck. The man struggled, and it took a while for the drug to take effect before he went limp. They carted him away nd cleaned up the mess of bodies littering the ground.
The passersby who had seen the crazed man went towards the men in white suits with gratitude, believing they had been saved.
Their joy was short lived as the men started shooting at them. Soon their white suits were stained red with the blood of their victims.
No witnesses had been left to tell the tale of the berserker.
