Why did he agreed to this in the first place?, Jason Smith thought to himself as he walked down the aisle, holding arms with the last person on Planet Earth he would like to be doing it with.
Yes, it was his sister's wedding and family was important, but... Really, did she have to marry Zane, Travis Jones's brother, for God's sake? To make things worse, he was paired up with said man to be their best man, since Travis was an outed gay.
Brilliant, just brilliant!
"Hey, pay attention", Jason heard the tall and blond man beside him call his attention. He really was spacing out now and everyone in the church was staring.
"Oh, right", Jason replied under his breath, feeling even more pissed than he was already. "But I don't need your help."
Jason felt, more than saw, Travis snapping. The other man pulled him by the hand, muttering some excuse for the other people that were in the church, doing the marriage rehearsal, and going for the nearest private space he could find - which was a small chapel inside it. "Will you tone it down?"
Jason crossed his arms and looked away, not really in the mood for doing this. "I'm not doing anything. Since neither of us want to do it anyway, can you behave like a normal human being and do not vent your anger anytime you want?"
Travis held Jason's shoulder, squeezing really hard. "How can you be so selfish? Are you an idiot?" He sighed, trying to keep his cool, but failing miserably. "This isn't about you, Jason! This about Rose and Zane! It's their day, their wedding! Can you stop being such a bastard and behave like a proper human being?"
Jason shrugged him off, glaring daggers at him. "And you are one to talk, pulling me here so you could boss me around!"
Travis sighed, biting his lips and clenching his fists. Jason could see how much he was struggling to keep calm. "Look, this isn't about us, you know. You and I have a past, but it's over now." He had a tired look on his face. "Please, can't we behave like grow-ups and give support to Rose and Zane? I want to get over it as quickly as possible, just like you do."
Jason felt his heart sink. Yeah, they surely had a past... Something that still haunted him till now. Things they've done, words that they've said... So much painful memories.
Shaking his head, he gave Travis a small nod. "Yes, let's do it."
