UNIVERSE LORE
There are two types of beings that cohabit in this world: humans and supernaturals. Due to a treaty signed many years ago, they have been living peacefully, helping each other. But not all humans know about the supernaturals, only the government and certain people know about them.
Supernatural creatures
Supernatural creatures are beings that usually appear in fictional stories written by humans. Elves, merfolk, shapeshifters, demons, vampires, fae, and witches are some of them. They live together in packs or villas, but some of them like living in large cities, hiding their natures. Some live in harmony, having peace treaties between races and helping each other when they need it; but not all of them get along.
Exotic creatures
Exotic creatures are supernatural beings of unique breeds that are in danger of extinction. They tend to have exotic and rare traits in their human and true supernatural forms. Being exotic means they are abused by greedy people. They are persecuted, kidnapped, and sold in illegal auctions to other different beings; including humans. Because of this, they often live in small towns, hiding their traits and true forms as they can.
VAMPIRE LORE
Vampires are supernatural creatures that subsist by feeding on the living’s vital essence (generally in the form of blood). Pale-skinned and sensitive to the sun, they mix with humans at night to feed. A lot of vampire families live all around the world, some of them are good but most of them are involved in messy businesses such as illegal trafficking of blood, slaves, exotic creatures, and many others. Powerful, almost immortal, and owners of many riches, they believe they are superior to other creatures.
Turning a human into a vampire
The vampire must offer their blood to the human they want to change, the process of fully turning into a vampire takes around one week, it can be either peaceful or painful depending on the human’s health, most of them make it but some rare cases perish. Vampires can't turn a supernatural, their blood is poisonous to them.
Dhampir
A supernatural creature born from the union between a vampire and a human. Skin paler than most humans, their fangs are longer than the canines of humans yet shorter than vampires. Dhapmir’s abilities consist of heightened senses, speed, agility, and strength. They don’t need to drink blood in order to survive and can live off of human food, but in order to strengthen their abilities they tend to drink blood every once in a while. Due to their appearance and resistance to the sun, they can pass as humans around the world. Vampires despise their kind, they believe it is a sin and a way to tarnish their pure lineage, due to this most dhampirs are bullied and rejected by their families, but there are cases in which they are used as hunters or slaves by powerful vampires. Dhampirs don't have the ability to turn humans.
GENDER TYPES
Male and female are not the only gender identities in this world. Years ago, sub-genders were discovered: alphas, betas, and omegas.
Alpha
Alpha’s are the most fertile beings, aside from the omegas. They are known to be dominant, stronger, bigger, and smarter than most people, an adaptation to the need to protect and provide for their packs. They enter a period of heightened sexual arousal called a rut, a period where they lose control and only act upon the need to procreate and breed their mates. Alphas are territorial and will be combative if threatened. They are also protective and possessive of their mates.
Beta
They are considered normal, they don’t have special traits like alphas and omegas. They can’t bond or enter into a heat/rut. Betas also have weaker pheromones and are less affected by scents.
Omega
Omegas are considered to be the fertile counterpart of alphas, both females and males are capable to get pregnant. They are usually ethereal looking with beautiful and delicate features and tend to be weaker than alphas and betas. They enter a heightened period of libido and fertility called heat. For protection, unmated omegas are obliged to use collars around their necks.
SUB GENDERS GLOSSARY
Heat
The heat is a period during the reproductive cycle when an omega is sexually receptive, signaling they are ready for mating and being bred. An omega goes into heat every month, lasting from 3 to 10 days depending on the environment the omega finds itself in.
Rut
A periodic and often annually recurring state for alphas, during which their behavior associated with the urge to breed is displayed. Usually, an alpha goes into a rut every three months or can be triggered by an omega’s heat.
Scent
Scents help identify what sub-gender someone is, you can tell if a person is of age or bonded just by their scent. Scent can affect or be affected by emotions. An omega’s scent can make an angry alpha calm down. Not all scents are the same.
Collars
Collars are accessories omegas use around their necks. It’s a method of protecting their nape from being accidentally marked by alphas.
Marking
Marking is when an Alpha bites the nape of its partner's neck, usually happens when the omega is in heat or during an alpha’s rut.
Slick
Slick is a sticky and liquid substance. A natural lubricant that omegas produce regardless of gender.
Nest
Omegas create nests, usually filled with soft things and possessions from their loved ones, as a way to feel safe and secure. Entering or touching an omega’s nest without permission will cause the omega distress and some get aggressive.
Knotting
Knotting is when the base of an alpha’s penis swells while they are on rut to ensure fertilization of their partner.
FATED MATES
Fated mates are god/goddess-given mates, but sometimes they are difficult to find. The way to identify a fated mate is by their scent, a pleasant scent that makes them feel calm, something they like or love. Besides feeling an attraction, a pull, between the two of them. Fated bonds can only happen between alphas and omegas.
This story takes place in an imaginary town called Bramville, a small town surrounded by a forest. A town where humans and the supernatural live in harmony. Maybe more supernaturals than humans…
