PROLOGUE: THE BLACK SCROLL
The Black Scroll:
You, reading this, are now the chosen one. The fairies have picked you to restore this scroll with the power of Black Magic. You must travel to the Magic Tree, and whisper your will to restore it. By uttering this to the tree, you can restore the Black Sorceress Staff. To complete this mission, you must first familiarize yourself with the magic of this world, where Sorceresses are plentiful. Let the past of our Catmen World be understood: the secrets of Obbisia…
In a time, long before the life and death of many stars in the sky, the souls of animals passed into our world from other realms. Those who were reborn here lived in peaceful forests, full of life and vigor, bringing joy to all other life forms residing here. And, when such creatures were ready, the Wing Wolves would carry them across other worlds once again to their final destination: Heaven.
But sometimes, souls are lost in Obbisia, forgotten and left to lose themselves as Shadow-Crawlers. Primal urges and desires take over, and these Crawlers gain an insatiable hunger for the souls of others. As many as possible are saved by the Wing Wolves - given a second chance. Wing Wolves created a reef on the bottom of the Ocean, made of lava, and magical lava-stones laid into the sand there.
At that time, three turtle’s souls wandered, touched the Lava-Stones, and morphed into the first Turtlemen. Travelling to land, they found our Magic Tree, the home of us Fairies. We do not live with magic, as most creatures do, but within the magic. We are responsible for bringing dead souls to this world, flying between worlds on Magic blue birds, and using Blue Magic to weave the very fabric that separates universes. With the magic the tree has taught us, we are able to make portals, summon others or even hide within the oblivion.
A new kind of Magic was born; the sea began expanding and attacking the Magic Tree. Given a blessing from the Magic Tree, the Turtlemen were now able to learn Green Magic, which allowed them to control the chaotic winds and stable earth. As the unknown Yellow Magic flooded threateningly from the reef, the Turtlemen rallied together to stop the destruction of the Magic Tree. For a time it was peaceful, but it was extremely short lived, as soon after the Magic Tree would be attacked by the cruel Shadow-Crawlers. We Fairies worked together with the tree to gift a scroll to each of the Turtlemen, bestowing upon them the power to create a Sorceress’ Staff and fight back against the Crawlers.
A magic scroll of protection and healing was given to the Wisest of the Turtlemen, a female named Skjold - the White Scroll. To imbue them with power in combat was given to the Strongest of them, a female named Hvæsen - the Red Scroll. And to the pure-hearted also a female named Hornnæb - the Black Scroll, which was capable of controlling the dead, and saving the souls that had fallen into the Crawler’s gnarled claws.
Peace was brought to our world, as the Turtles fought back against the Crawlers each time they reared their dark heads. It is believed that the Shadow-Crawlers may have awakened something sinister this time. A huge monster, so named a ‘giant’ and with a goal to end the Magic Tree for good. Fearful, the Sorceresses gathered the Lava-Stones, using the magic contained within them, to transform more souls into the form of men. From this effort, the Catmen were born: the combined work of the stones and the tree’s Green magic transformed the cats’ souls. United, the Catmen learned Green magic, and teaming with the Turtles they fought back against this giant and the Crawlers. The battle was gruelling, but the monster was eventually defeated, but it was the unknown Yellow magic that controlled the giant. Though they knew it would come back, they were triumphant at the downfall of evil, and, as friends, continued to shape this world into that of the Catmen: Obbisia.
As foretold, the monster was reborn, after two stars, in the deepest part of the Ocean. A huge monster of water rose from the sea, to attack them and destroy the Lava-Stones. The Turtlemen and the Catmen fought against it, but it was a losing battle. With the Catmen King killed in battle, the three injured Sorceresses were left to fight back alone. Fighting with a vengeance, the Sorceresses learned to absorb the wicked Yellow magic that oozed from the monster, so that they might turn the battle in their favour. But the monsters soon replicated their trick, draining the Black Sorceress of power, and as she was robbed of her power, her life force began to wane. With a final push, they saved the Black Sorceress, whose magic had already been lost to the beast. To prevent it from being reborn, they borrowed the might of the Fairies, using their Blue Magic to banish it into another dimension. The Black Staff was cast into the monster, agonisingly absorbing its magic and weakening the monster. The Fairies were able to cast the water beast into another dimension, separating it from the Black Magic. Lost to another world, the Black Staff and its magic were yet again transformed into the form of the Black scroll.
Some say the unknown Yellow magic will always return to this world, taking many forms and with each return yielding even more power. Only the Black Scroll has the power to allow it to return to Obbisia.
Without the Black Magic, the Turtlemen’s immortality waned and they passed the Red and White scrolls onto the Fairies, with the will for them to be bestowed upon the strong Catmen, who would protect their world against the Shadow-Crawlers. For many stars, the Catmen lived in peace under the protection of the Wing Wolves and the Wolves of the mountains, who retrieved all the lost souls, before more Crawlers could be born into the world. In the time of peace, the Sorceresses forgot who they were and what their purpose was, of battles of the past lost to legend.
No one knows what happened to the Turtlemen. Not dead, no, but stuck within a capsule of time magic and lost to the world. We believe this Scroll can lead the way to the Turtlemen and start an era of alliance, in which the monster and it’s unknown magic are finally purged from this world for good.
… I believe we would all want to live to witness this world fully at peace.
The Princess of the Fairies.
This story's plot, (with out saying too much).
Everything have something to do with magic, time and Meow! But not in the way you think it will go.
