As Lionel clangs his sword against another knight's, a messenger runs up to them, seemingly out of breath. Lionel turns to face the messenger, a showing confused expression.
"What do you deliver, messenger?" He asks
The messenger gains his breath back, and responds,
"Sir Lionel," He gives a small bow, "His royal majesty the King wishes your presence in the throne room."
Lionel thinks over the situation for a moment, before nodding. Though he is a bit anxious, as he cannot fathom what his majesty could want him for.
"Very well. I will meet him in the throne room immediately. You may be dismissed." He says politely.
The messenger promptly leaves, running back to wherever. Lionel turns to the knight he was previously sparring with and waving goodbye. He then also leaves the training grounds, making his way to the throne room.
As he walks, he begins to think too much about what his majesty may say. He quickly dismisses these thoughts, as they were improbable, and he knew as such. He walks a little faster.
Finally, reaching the large decorated doors of the throne room, he hesitates. Though, he slowly pushes the door open anyway. He sees the big and open room, and the three thrones sitting at the spotlight. It's stunning, though it's indeed also intimidating. The room gives an aura of power and royalty. Sitting on one of the thrones is his majesty himself, and the entire rest of the room is completely empty. Not a single person in sight.
Despite the circumstances, Lionel walks forward with a knightly stride and strict steps. He reaches in front of the throne and bows on one knee.
"Your majesty, you summoned me?"
His majesty grins, barely visible underneath his beard. A playful glint in his eyes.
"Why yes, Sir Lionel. In fact, I have a favor to ask of you. Though, think of it more of a...assignment. A duty if you will."
Lionel is a little confused at his riddled wording, but nods for him to continue.
"I would like you to be a personal guard for my only son, Prince Marius. This is an order." The King smiles happily.
There's a moment of silence. I've never been summoned before, much less something like this. Obviously I have no choice but to accept... He thinks. He gives an internal sigh,
"Of course, your majesty. I swear I will protect his highness the Prince."
