The glass shattered outwards, cutting through my leather coat and getting caught in my arm. I pulled my arm away from my face, staring wide-eyed at the burning warehouse.
"No," I whispered. I ran forward, throwing open the door, and stopped in my tracks. Everything we've collected for 10 straight years. I was about to run through the fire and towards the stairs leading to the second floor of the warehouse when I saw Toby. His bright pink hair had charcoal staining it and was singed. Blood was slowly leaking from a wound in his stomach, his eyes were closed. His pale skin was as white as a sheet of paper. His adorable childlike face was covered in soot and blood. His clothes were torn and bloodied. Next to him lay Titus. Titus blue-black hair was messed up, his face looked peaceful as he held Toby close to his chest. I knew without having to check that they were both dead. Fire slowly started to spread towards them and I decided to let it happen. I looked towards the kitchen and saw that Seth and Kat also lay lifeless on the ground. Seth's small body was under Kats like Kat had tried to protect him from danger. How well that worked. Fire burst forth from the ceiling, making it cave in. I backed away, anger flashing on my face. I know who did this. I ran forward, a flash of dark energy that looked like shadows and ash mixed, protecting me from the fire's deadly touch.
I ran towards the stairs, silently morning the deaths of my friends. But I wanted revenge and I would make sure that we would all die in this fire. I ran up the stairs, stopping at the top as a figure in white was thrown against the wall behind me. His Jade eyes flashed bright, his silver hair coming undone from its braid and cascading down his back. His snow-white skin was flushed and he reached up wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. His handsome face was twisted up in anger and betrayal. I looked at him in surprise.
"Vincent?" I breathed. Vincent turned his head to me in surprise.
"Neo," he breathes back. "What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing," I replied. Vincent was about to answer when a laugh sounded from across the room. I turned my head to see in surprise a person in torn clothing surrounded by fire and holding a boy with black hair and blue eyes. The boy was handsome, his mouth was covered by a black mask. His hands were being held behind his back and he stared at me and Vincent with fear-filled eyes.
"Silas? Savith?" I asked. Savith's brown hair was singed, but his red eyes were bright and dancing with the light of the fire. The building gave a slight groan as if it could barely hold itself up. Vincent slowly inched closer to me.
"Look at you two!" Savith exclaimed, "once sworn enemies. Now turned lovers! What a story this'll make!"
Silas' eyes grew wide. I looked away from my twin in shame. Vincent just shook his head and moved towards me. His hand reached up and grasped my chin. He stared into my eyes, searching for anything within their depths.
"Are you hurt?" He asked quietly.
"No," I replied, reaching up and interlacing our fingers.
We turned to Savith and Silas. Silas looked betrayed and scared at the same time. Savith just smiled. He pulled hard on Silas' hair, making Silas reach up and grab his wrist. Savith looked insane at that moment. Burning flames touching the ground around him, blood-splattered his shirt and face. His eyes are wide with a psychotic look in their depths.
"Isn't that cute Si!" Savith exclaimed, " they've come so far in their relationship! Now they even worry about each other!"
Vincent squeezed my hand and I squeezed back. Savith looked down at my brother, his face a little less cruel as he stared down.
"Oh, don't worry," Savith told Silas, "your gonna be just fine. They're the only ones dying today!" He broke out in manic laughter. The fire reacted to him and burst out like gasoline had been thrown on it.
"No," I whispered. Vincent looked at me. "I won't let that happen. If we die. You die as well." I looked at Silas. He reached up slowly and grabbed his mask, ripping it off.
"B-blow th-this joint," he struggled to say. His voice was deeper now than it had been a year's ago when he had gone mute. Tears pricked my eyes and I smiled. Vincent smiled as well and leaned over, planting a small kiss on my lips. Savith realized what was going on. But too late did he do so. I raised my hand and held it palm up. Dark energy exploded from it and surrounded the fire, telling it to grow bigger and bigger. Telling it to reach for the skies. Reach for the sun just like Icarus had done. But when the fire made it fifty or feet up in the air it exploded outwards, taking with it me and my friends to the afterlife. If only I could have done something differently if only I could turn back time.
