You want to get out so badly?
You want to leave?
You can’t leave us!
I was running through the forest, fully knowing it was all fake; but I couldn’t seem to understand that it was actually fake.
Still running, my lungs burned and legs ached. I needed to find the door. The door that would let me out of this sickening place, if only I could reach it.
It was always so close yet it kept getting further and further out of reach. I always kept running.
Stumbling down, tripping over what I thought was a branch but it turned out to be a 9 foot tall beast. Screaming bloody murder, it seemed to hate that.
I scrambled to get away, becoming aware of the pain in multiple areas. Making it so difficult to crawl, let alone run.
The beast was still behind me, I felt it. I heard a snarl, turning around I saw it. Clear as day, pointy teeth drenched with slobber.
I launched at my throat and everything went black.
Slowly turning red and burning.
Character A shot awake, slightly whincing at the pain in their side. Confused about everything, Character A looked around. They were in a jail cell, but a nice one. They were laying on a cot, a toilet and sink off to their right - along with a mirror - a window with bars on the wall right next to their bed. The door was strange, it had bars on it but A could tell that there was glass. There was a small drawer off in the corner with a tray of food on it. Definitely cold.
A sat up more comfortable on the cot, realizing that they were wearing clean clothes?
In fact A couldn’t remember what they were wearing previously. They now were wearing a very large tan t-shirt and baggy black shorts.
Trying to remember what they were wearing, Character A remembered what had happened.
They had snuck into the pack, searching for the one they were assigned to kill. Getting so close to finishing the job, someone had caught A. Leaving the task early, A jumped out of the window. Landing on the ground beneath them.
Running away from the pack, there were howls indicating that everyone had been notified of Character A’s presence. Running faster, they soon caught up. Easily trapping A and capturing them.
A laid back down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling, thinking. Maybe The People would come to the rescue, they are the ones that assigned A the mission. But A knew they wouldn’t, they never really cared; no matter how much they claimed they did.
Shifting around on the bed Character A threw the covers back over themselves and went back to sleep. Not caring about what ever consequence they would receive - which was likely death - A really just wanted to sleep.
---
“How do you think they got in?”
“I’m not sure, they don’t have a scent.”
Character A didn’t get much sleep, thanks to some dimwitts talking. Shifting ever so slightly A listened closer to the conversation.
“Thankfully we were able to catch them.”
“Yeah, wonder who they work for?”
“We could just ask.”
“Right, like they are going to spill that information.”
Character A agreed with Dimwit #1, they weren’t going to say anything. They wouldn’t allow A to give up anything, The People always knew if someone did.
“It’s worth a shot.” Dimwit #2 pointed out.
“Fine.” Dimwit #1 grunted.
The dimwitts opened up the door and stepped inside. A didn’t care and just pretended to sleep, until one of them snarled. Shooting straight up A gasped getting a feeling of deja vu.
Shooting a glare at the two guys standing in the cell, Character A moved to go back to bed.
“Who are you?” Dimwit #2 asked.
A didn’t answer them, but threw the covers back over their head.
“He asked you a question!” Dimwit #1 shouted.
Still not responding - caring - A didn’t move.
Pissing off one of the males, they walked over and grabbed A throwing them against the wall; barely missing the sink and toilet.
Character A slammed against the wall, sliding down to the floor, coughing. Trying to restore their lost air, A tried to take deep breaths. Only to be stopped when a foot connected to their stomach. Making A throw up stomach acid, leaving a burning sensation inside their throat.
“Answer the question!” Dimwit #1 demanded.
A couldn't do anything. Whatever injury they had endured before started hurting all over again. Still getting kicked, Character A's eyesight started to fade in and out; along with the sound. Muffled voices still shouted at them before everything went black again.
