I'm so excited to share this story with all of you! I got the idea for it over spring break, and I want to plot it out a little more before starting.
Ollie is a lovely little stinker, and I'm especially excited to introduce you to her sweet friend Pip, the narrator of the story. He will be getting his own story later, set in Victorian London.
Anyway, cheers to a seafaring adventure full of willpower, drag, Scottish folklore, danger, and an 1800s aesthetic!
I can't wait to get started, and I hope you all will enjoy. See you soon, seafarers!
Olive "Ollie" Thomson is a young tomboy living on the Scottish coast with her family in the 1840s. Her mother, a selkie away from sea, is becoming sick from her refusal to return to it. When bandits take away her mother's seal coat, along with her sister and the life of the father, young Ollie takes it upon herself to retrieve what she can and make things right.
And so begins Ollie's adventure at sea: disguised (without much effort) as a ship's boy and armed with the toughest determination the nineteenth century has ever seen.
