I originally didn't plan on making a prelude/exposition. The story was written and is functional without it (a sort of "figure out the world through context clues" deal), but I had some ideas that wouldn't get out of my head and hence I went back and made this. So I hope you enjoy this technically unnecessary (and unnecessarily dramatic) monologue.
Knowledge is power. In the frigid lands of Stries the College of Solberg lords over all magic. They stand as a beacon guiding humanity to an enlightened future, or so they proclaim. Triekkia, an ambitious young mage, stumbles upon an ancient conspiracy that seeks to usurp the powers that be and even the very fabric of reality. As the truths of the world are revealed, she finds herself caught between two higher powers: An obstinate Empire, and forces that question humanity's very right to exist.
