...Sigh...
Adam was bored, or more accurately Aspir was bored. Aspir being Adam's Gamer tag. Here he was floating around in virtual space watching a timer slowly tick away.
If he'd known that 'Second coming' would take this long to download then he wouldn't have booked the day off work to play it on release.
'Second coming' being the latest VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) to hit the game market.

Aspir had nothing better to do so he may as well have a look.

<Tutorial loaded>
<Please enjoy , from Darkfire Studios>
Aspir found himself sat on a chair in the middle of a white box room , about the size of a 2 bedroom apartment.
"Welcome to the 'Second Coming' virtual tutorial," a sweet voice was ringing in Aspir's ears , but despite looking around he couldn't find the source.
"I am Eve , I am one of the subsidiary functions of Second Coming designed to help orientate new players to the world of Second coming." That explained why Aspir couldn't see her as she undoubtedly didn't have a body.
"Please select an option that you would like to learn more about. Please note that the tutorial will only cover basic information, anything more in depth can only be learnt inside of the game."

<Enemies and allies>
<Basic tutorial combat>
In response to Eve's voice 4 different coloured boxes appeared in the 4 corners of the room , all Aspir had to was walk to the option of his choice.
His first choice was a green box in the upper left of the room, this box had the glowing title of 'The world of Second Coming' above it. All he had to do to activate was wave his hand through the box.
<The world of 'Second Coming' tutorial video activated>
The room went dark , the white walls were gone along with the boxes in the corners, Aspir had been blinded from the lack of light.
Out of the dark rang an ancient and grave voice "The goddess strove for a world where all species could strive and aspire together to reach greater heights. After many centuries she believed that she had succeeded and went into a great slumber, not aware of the darkness that had been lurking." Aspir found himself in space viewing a planet below. He could see a great light enshrouding the planet, nourishing it , almost protecting it. But slowly it grew dim until finally it disappeared...
"For beneath her light a darkness had been waiting , waiting for her to slumber so it could spread its reach," the planet with the light slowly fading ,exposed dark tendrils slowly curling around it suffocating it , hiding the planet in its dark grasp.
"Fortunately the goddess's chosen managed to wake her in time before the dark grasp destroyed the planet. In a desperate struggle she succeeded in destroying the darkness, but at a terrible price, for in her battle the darkness that she had torn apart had infected the planet. Slowly poisoning it and twisting the very nature of life, destroying the harmony that she had created," Aspir saw images as different species became twisted and started to feast or kill each other, spreading nothing but chaos and war.
"In her final moment she shed her light choosing to merge it with the planet instead, to seal the remnants of darkness. Though she succeeded, as she faded away , she only hoped that the darkness would never resurface again."
The planet slowly spinning in space faded away before Aspir's eyes but not before the flecks of light and dark submerged into the planet where none could see.
<World of 'Second Coming' end>
Once again Aspir was sat within the white room but couldn't help and wonder why the tutorial showed the history of the planet rather than how it currently was for the players. Either way he would soon be able to witness it all first hand.
His second choice was the bright blue box in the bottom right of the room labelled <Skill System> once again waving his hand Aspir activated the tutorial.
<Skill system tutorial start>
This time the room didn't change but in front of him the blue box split into multiple screens all listing various basic skills that could be learnt in side of the game.
"Second Coming allows your character to gain levels and grow stronger but more specifically through the use of the skills before you," Eve's voice resounded throughout the room before carrying on.
"Every player has the selection of 10 base skills on which your character can be built around. In second coming there are no classes just individual play styles, which will influence how you play the game and the choices you make. For example a warrior may invest into skills pertaining heavy armour , shield and heavy weapons skills whilst another warrior will invest into healing , heavy armour and two handed weapons. There is no restriction on how you want to build your character." This made sense to Aspir , though he did wonder how the game would balance itself if a player chose heavy armour when combined with hard hitting magic and defence skills.
"Second Coming's in built system then evaluates your skill set and will impose rules. For example a mage wearing Heavy Armour will have his cast time reduced and mana expenditure increased , whilst a warrior casting magic through the use of a weapon will likewise see a drop in damage and higher mana cost as well." This basically meant that players who focused on the correct synergy of skills could perform better in there chosen fields, whilst players who mixed and matched would have greater variety of options.
"Finally whilst most skills can be learned in game via the use of SXP points, earned by levelling and events in game. (Skills range from the following trees of Combat , Crafting and Miscellaneous) Secret skills can also be learnt but aren't included in any tree."
"But be careful when choosing as there are many more features to be wary of ," Aspir could have sworn that he heard a hidden mirth in that sentence.
<Skill system tutorial end>
So far the tutorial had actually presented quite a few bits of interesting information to Aspir , that he may have learnt whilst playing the game, but it didn't hurt to learn it sooner.
The <Enemies and allies> didn't interest Aspir. Any enemies or allies that he made himself in the game depended on what he chose to do , so he wasn't concerned that he'd miss anything interesting.
Finally, he came to the box glowing a deep crimson red <Basic tutorial combat> with a wave of his hand he selected to start.
(Continues in part two, sorry no other good place to split the chapter)
