A small light which sat at the base of Jos’ feet gave off just enough light to see, despite the cold and harsh night. Jos was tired, to say the least, but they still made no effort to sleep. Too many thoughts were plaguing their mind. Instead, Jos played with the dirt at their feet, using the earth to create small fighting figures which became silhouetted due to the flame.
The dirt quickly returned to normal when what sounded like a cry for help came from the surrounding trees. Jos was already on their feet when two men stumbled into the small clearing they had set up camp in. Though both were upright, one was completely unconscious and the other didn’t look like he could last much longer either, especially whilst supporting his friend.
'I-' He spat up some blood, 'h-help?' His legs buckled underneath him and he collapsed on the floor, his friend landing next to him.
Jos stood there, speechless. Two unconscious men were now at their feet, and they had no clue what to do. With a certain panic about them, Jos sat each of them up by a tree. The first order of business was to treat their wounds, going for the one which fell unconscious first. Lifting his shirt, they saw a deep wound which went at least 2 inches into his stomach. With a deep breath, Jos placed their hands over his stomach and closed their eyes in deep concentration.
'Sano.' Jos said, barely above a whisper. They looked hopeful for a moment as the wound began to heal, but it stopped part way through. It was not enough. Letting out a small curse in Latin under their breath, Jos realised that the one basic, but strong, healing spell they had needed was out of their reach. Even though he looked just about stable, it most definitely wasn’t the best condition to be in. Jos’ ideas were running thin, and their last resort was burn the wound in an attempt to cauterise it. Though fire made sense in this exact situation, it was almost always Jos’ last resort.
'Ustulo.'
The skin burnt around the wound, and Jos was satisfied, for now. Grabbing bandages from their bag, they wrapped it around his torso and finally pulled his shirt down. Once they had finished the first person, they actually began to question why they were doing this. They had no obligation to, they weren't expecting any reward and they weren't the kind of person to just do something out of the kindness of their heart. Maybe they were changing.
Shaking off the thought, Jos went onto the next person. His injuries weren't as bad, but they were more plentiful. Examining all the wounds, Jos decided on a different healing spell. Unlike their other spell, this one would heal all small injuries on a single person, and now was exactly the right time to use it.
'Integro.' Jos' eyes turned white periodically when they casted the spell, and most of his scratches were healed.
Now that the healing was done, Jos resigned back to their place under one of the trees. Their plan was to keep watch, knowing that whatever did this to the two might still be out there. Going to sleep wasn’t an option. But, even after only a few minutes, Jos had given in to the urge to sleep. Their body slumped onto the floor, which ensured messy clothes and dirty blonde hair the next morning.
