His best friend walked into his office, expecting his friend to be sitting in his chair, slaving away at his work. Except the office was dark and empty. He thought that was strange but it made sense since the two of them were drinking last night; with this in mind, he wandered around the mansion. Barging into his best friends room, he discovered that this room was also dark and empty. Standing in the doorway he scanned the room, then tiptoed over to the bathroom. Slowly opening the door he expected someone to be in there but at last it was empty too. It was puzzling; his best friend knew the mansion like the back of his hand so how did he not make it to his own bedroom. Hearing rolling of a cart from the hallway, he skipped out of his best friend’s room, to see the Head Maid rolling a cart of breakfast on it.
“Who is this for?” He asked, following behind the Head Maid.
“This is for the young lady.”
“The young lady?”
“Yes you’ve met her, she’s the one who's been arranged to marry him.” The Head Maid reminded him.
The best friend did remember meeting the sweet young lady a few times since she moved in. She wasn’t that much younger than him or his best friend; just a little over 6 years. She didn’t join them for drinks last night, she chose to read instead. He knew that the two didn’t work well with each other.
Walking with the Head Maid down to the young lady’s room, they noticed her bodyguard standing outside of her door. The young lady’s father had ensured on getting her a one.
“Is she up?” The best friend asked.
“No she isn’t.”
“Have you seen him anywhere?”
The bodyguard hadn’t seen the boss anywhere. He had come in late, knowing the young lady would be sleeping. He had memorized her schedule, noting that today she would sleep in and leave for work later. He wouldn’t have seen the boss if he went out so he had no idea where he would be.
The Head Maid entered the room, being as quiet as she possibly could; not wanting to disturb the young lady. Not paying attention to the boys or anything else but the tray of food, she didn’t notice the extra pair of shoes, socks and shirt laying on the floor. Switching out the empty water cup with hot tea, the Head Maid reorganized the books on the nightstand. Turning back to the cart, she glanced at the bed.
“Boys. Come in here.” The Head Miad whispered.
Both the best friend and bodyguard hurried into the room and looked over at the bed. The best friend couldn’t help but start snickering while the bodyguard just stared and the head maid took out her phone to take a few photos.
The first thing he registered was his full bladder and throbbing headache.
Second thing were the whispers and one or two clicking sounds.
Third; he felt breathing on his neck and warmer.
Fourth; he noticed an irritating tingling feeling in his left arm and something weighing it down.
Fifth; when he opened his eyes he realized he wasn’t in his room, given the amount of books on the nightstand.
Sixth; he saw his best friend, the bodyguard and the head maid looking down at someone’s phone.
Finally he looked down and saw her snuggled up close to him.
His first reaction was to flinch away but his second reaction won over. He wanted to look at her. That’s exactly what he did. Not paying attention to the other people in the room or anything except for the person sleeping in his arms.
Her semi-messy bed head, that seemed to fall perfectly on her face. Her thin eyebrows, her long lashes, the faint freckles scattered along her cheeks and nose; her small chapped lips. The way her chest rose and fell with every even breath she took, the way her breathing hit his shoulder. He realized how she seemed to perfectly snuggle up close to him, the way she fit perfectly in his arms. Before pulling her closer to him, he saw that she had gripped his shirt.
He somehow managed to disregard his dress shirt, shoes and socks but left his dress pants on and his under tank top shirt. He still reeked of alcohol and yet here she was. Clinging onto him, not wanting him to leave.
He didn’t want to wake her, she looked so peaceful. Something he hadn’t seen on her ever since she arrived. He let out a breathless sigh, moving the strains of hair out of her face. He stared at her untrouble face before planting a soft kiss on her forehead. Seemingly to forget about his full bladder and headache; he pulled her closer to his chest, tightening his hold on her. Not ever wanting to let her go. He knew right then and there that he wanted nothing more than to marry her now.
She seemed content with being in his arms, seeing that she rubbed her head on his shoulder; finding her original spot between his shoulder and neck. He couldn’t help but feel all gooy inside. The feeling made him wake up but he wanted to go back to sleep. Wanting to dream about their future together. Hoping that she’ll be just as happy with him as he is now with her.
The Head Maid slowly draped the blankets back over the two, ushering the boys out of the room; making sure they weren’t going to disturb them. She walked back over to the nightstand, picking up the tea and putting it back on the cart. She wheeled the cart out of the room and silently shut it behind her. Both of the boys were standing there eagerly waiting for something, but the head maid shooed them off. Before going back to the kitchen with the cart, the head maid looked down at her phone. She had obviously taken photos of the two, wanting to capture the moment. When he first woke up she had to hush the boys from speaking too loud. But when she noticed a small little glint in her eyes she videotaped his reaction, aware that later the young lady won’t believe him when he says that he loves her. The head maid knew that in this exact moment when he had fallen in love with her.
